November 17th, 2015 by Linda-Marie Hogsten

A surprisingly elusive, slender and silvery fighting fish, bonefish feed on the bottom and can weigh up to ten pounds. Its extensive “flats” make it an ideal spot for bone fishing.

We strongly recommend you book early to avoid disappointment. Each 15ft watercraft can accommodate 2 persons and includes guide/instructor and equipment.

Anegada: Independent Exploration by 4×4

November 16th, 2015 by Linda-Marie Hogsten

One favorite option is to rent one of the small jeep-like vehicles and discover several of the magnificent beaches on a self-guided exploration of the island. Allow yourself plenty of time to get around this 10-mile long island, time for the beaches, snorkeling and time for lunch (not included). Remember the island is mostly sand and even the roads are almost exclusively of sand – do not drive off the road as you might get stuck and find no one to help. We suggest a circular route around the island and you can start in a westerly direction driving to the beautiful beaches at West End Point. From there drive towards the north coast and we highly recommend a stop at the famous Cow Wreck Bay. Spend time swimming, enjoy some refreshment or try one of the famous conch fritters served at the Cow Wreck Beach Bar & Grill (not included). After time on the beach continue along the north coast until you reach Loblolly Bay. This is another amazing beach and it also offers excellent snorkeling as well as some shade under the Sea-Grape trees. There you will also find a beach bar and grill in case you are getting hungry. If you are energetic, I love the fantastic snorkeling right off the beach at Flash of Beauty, a few more minutes east of Loblolly Bay (yes there is also a small bar). From Loblolly Bay head through the center of the island past the airport towards The Settlement. From there continue west along the southern road back to the pier at Setting Point. You can also start this drive counterclockwise and begin with a drive towards The Settlement and then Loblolly Bay followed by Cow Wreck Bay. No matter which direction you prefer, bring a sense of adventure, plenty of protection from the sun, a couple of towels, your snorkel gear, extra water and enjoy a day of swimming and snorkeling on one of the Caribbean’s most unique islands.

Notes The price shown is per car/van for the duration of our stay on the island. Each car accommodates up to four adults in reasonable comfort (up to 6 guests per van). Type of cars: Small Samurai, Swift, Baleno or similar. Limited automatic cars are available, most have stick shift. Be sure to bring your credit card and driver’s license. The price also includes full risk insurance with a $1,000 deductible. The deductible is fully or partially charged to the drivers’ credit card in case the car is returned damaged. Also included are government taxes, fuel cost and the local BVI temporary Driving license for 1 driver. Please note that beach chairs and changing facilities are not available but restrooms are available at the restaurant/bars on Cow Wreck Bay and Loblolly Bay. There are only a limited amount of cars and vans available on the island and basically no taxis. We strongly recommend you book early to avoid disappointment. Please wear your swimsuit, bring suntan lotion, a hat and a towel and your snorkel gear.

Union Island: Southern Grenadines Exploration

November 16th, 2015 by Linda-Marie Hogsten

No visit to the Grenadines is complete without a sail through its charming little islands. See Mopion, Union Island, Petit St. Vincent and Palm Island as you enjoy the fresh breeze. This exclusive sail-away adventure takes you through part of the Grenadines archipelago experiencing coastlines garlanded with white sand beaches as you make your way to Mopion. You will use the authentic means of transport which made life on these tiny islands possible. For decades, locally built schooners were the principal means of transport between the islands. Totally un-mechanized, the wooden vessel will take you back to the era of Pirates and Buccaneers, ropes and riggings and the ever-important bottles of rum. Along the way, you will sail past Palm Island. This private island is a resort named after the hundreds of coconut palm planted by the original owner over 30 years ago.   Now owned by a top hotel consortium, it is an exceptional all-inclusive retreat. Continuing, you head for Mopion – an islet resembling an atoll in the South pacific surrounded by its reef lagoon. On arriving at Mopion, your mind will be set back decades, as this perfect setting is the antidote for the stresses of everyday life.   The crystal clear waters and white sand are breathtaking and is a wonderful environment for swimming or snorkeling.

St. Kitts: Essential St. Kitts

November 10th, 2015 by Linda-Marie Hogsten

This beautiful, scenic Yachting Land Adventure includes visits to two world-class destinations, Brimstone Hill Fortress National Park and Romney Manor Botanical Gardens, as well as an interesting drive through historical Basseterre, with brief stops. No visit to St. Kitts is complete without a visit to Romney Gardens and Caribelle Batik Studios. This 12- acre Garden setting is quite simply stunning. It is at this glorious location that local artists produce the fabric and apparel for which Caribelle Batik has become widely acclaimed. The garden setting and picturesque experience is a photographer’s dream. The memory will last a lifetime. Explore a 300- year- old Fortress, perched on a 40 acre hill-top 750 feet above sea level. The first cannons were mounted on Brimstone Hill in 1690 as the English and French fought for control of the island. The next 100 years saw the intermittent construction of an amazing work of architectural and engineering genius. This magnificent structure is well-preserved and provides spectacular panoramic views of the coastline, countryside and five neighboring islands. The Brimstone Hill Fortress is a UNESCO World Heritage site and is well-presented. There is a visitor center, museum, gift shop and well-informed and uniformed staff in attendance Added to these two memorable stops is a drive through beautiful Basseterre. This historic Capital City is a reminder of an original Caribbean town. Observe the traditional French architecture and Victorian structures. Old churches, West Indian cottages and a former slave market are also included in this interesting driving adventure of Basseterre.

Antigua: Helicopter flight to Montserrat Volcano

November 4th, 2015 by Linda-Marie Hogsten

This is a unique, rare and exclusive opportunity to visit and tour Montserrat, and to witness an active volcano from a safe but close up. Whilst the volcanic Exclusion Zone covers the entire south-eastern half of the island, as well as extending four kilometers off-shore along the eastern coast to what is known as the Maritime Exclusion Zone, there are various vantage points from where it is possible to view the volcano and the destruction it has wrought on the island. Visitors can learn about its geological origins and history as well as view the volcano from safe locations around the island. You will met at the ship by your tour guide and driven to the helicopter pad 30 minutes away from St John’s. Here you will board your awaiting private helicopter for a fully narrated and truly memorable and unique Montserrat Volcano tour. On this 45-minute, pilot-narrated flight, you will fly to Montserrat to tour its “Exclusion Zone,” an area covering 80 sq. kms made off-limits to both ground transportation and habitation. This makes the helicopter the only way to get an up-close look at the Soufriere Hills Volcano. The volcano rises to 3,000 feet above sea level and frequently emits a combination of ash, smoke and steam. Survey the massive Tar River Gorge and Delta found 1,000 feet below, which has formed as a result of pyroclastic flows. You’ll witness what’s left of small villages devastated by past eruptions before touring the charred remains of Plymouth, the country’s former capital, now uninhabited and in some places buried under 40 feet of ash. On the seaside, observe the former location of the W.H. Bramble Airport – abandoned after the 1997 eruptions. Portions of this airport, including the runway were still visible until the partial dome collapse of February 11th, 2010, which buried what was left. Your adventure ends back in Antigua with a bird’s eye view of your beautiful SeaDream yacht!

Notes Route may vary due to weather and volcanic activity. The max weight to participate is 230 lbs per person, max height is 6’ 4”.  Actual flying time is approximately 45 to 50 minutes. It is essential you bring your passport as you may need to clear both Antigua and Montserrat immigration. A minimum participation is required to operate all Yachting Land Adventures and some have limited capacity.
