Port Name Description
A very important port in the Pacific, Puerto Caldera sits near the mouth of the Golfo de Nicoya. Located in the northern region of Puntarenas province on the Central Pacific Coast, this tiny town is a key port for ships from all across the globe. With an industrial port complex built here to accommodate both cruise liners as well as cargo vessels, Puerto Caldera plays a vital role in Costa Rica's trade with the world. Just over one hour west of San Jose, the capital, Puerto Caldera acts as a significant access spot to the Pacific Coast. A 45 minute drive from the touristy town of Jaco, and about 18 km southeast from the city of Puntarenas, this port has no real passenger facilities or services with the exception of a small port terminal. The terminal here is air-conditioned with restroom facilities, an information desk, public phone access and a few vendors aimed at tourists. For international visitors a call center is at hand which accepts all major credit cards. Situated in a lush and unspoiled region of the province and with close proximity to many of Puntarenas's major tourist attractions and nature reserves, Puerto Caldera is a great place to parasail. Perfect for the adventure tourist looking for some action, this small port town has some amazing steep cliffs, from which one can take off to see some truly breathtaking views of the country's Pacific Coast.
Curu National Wildlife Refuge and Hacienda is located on the southern Nicoya Peninsula of northwestern Costa Rica. The area is teaming with abundant wildlife and hosts one of the most beautiful beaches and protected bays on the Nicoya Peninsula. The area offers easy access to seeing some of the most sought after species such as White-faced monkeys, Howler monkeys, Spider Monkeys, Scarlet Macaws, White-tailed Deer, Collared Peccary, Coati, Raccoons, Coyotes, Iguanas, and hundreds of species of tropical and migratory birds. Curu contains Costa Rica's first private National Wildlife Refuge and is an example of a successful sustainable development program. The hacienda still includes low levels of cattle grazing and produces tropical fruits such as mangos on an annual basis; however, tourism and visitation by school groups and researchers are the focus of Curu today. Curu National Wildlife Refuge and Hacienda is managed sustainably to produce a profit and local employment, while also protecting its threatened and endangered forested habitats such as mangroves, tropical moist and dry forests, and coral reefs Tortuga Island: The white sandy beach and sparkling turquoise waters will entice you to stay for a day of relaxation in this beautiful environment. This is where guests will enjoy our signature Champagne and Caviar Splash surved SeaDream Style in the surf. After guests will enjoy our traditional BBQ luncheon on the beach.
Quepos is the gateway to Manuel Antonio National Park. There are numerous bars and restaurants in the city, and a vivacious nightlife. Located fewer than 100 miles (160 km) from San Jose, on the Central Pacific coast of Costa Rica, are the very popular towns of Quepos and much smaller Manuel Antonio. The town is named for the indigenous Quepo Indians who inhabited the place in the colonial era. Quepos is a picturesque town with a small bit of the colonial era wall left. It has excellent area bus service. Quepos offers fishing for numerous varieties of fish, especially Pacific Sailfish. Peak fishing season is from November to April for billfish. Manuel Antonio has the most popular National Park and beach in Costa Rica. Several years ago the country's park service imposed limits on the number of visitors to the park (600 per day, and it's closed on Mondays), to prevent this tiny natural area from becoming 'resortified'.
Playa Flamingo (Flamingo Beach) is one of Costa Rica's popular beaches with stunning, fine white sand. Its pristine clear blue waters, lagoons, vegetation and abundance of activities make this the perfect location while in Costa Rica. The Playa Flamingo area offers a wide variety of secluded beaches and lagoons due to amazing mountain formations reaching into the sea. From hotels, lodging, luxury rental homes to all the dining, entertainment, water, land and leisure activities, this site has it all regarding the Playa Flamingo Area.
Playa del Coco, or Coco Beach, is one of the most accessible and popular beach areas in Guanacaste. The mile-long stretch of beautiful, gray sand is lined by leaning trees, oceanfront restaurants and small souvenir stands. One thing is certain - in Playa del Coco, you'll never lack things to do. Coco's history lies in fishing, a way of life still active and evidenced by the myriad fishing boats out in the bay. Today, the town's burgeoning tourism industry takes center stage, welcoming both young Costa Ricans and visiting tourists who enjoy long weekends and even longer weeks on this cocoa-colored beach. Playa del Coco is one of Northern Guanacaste's most celebrated dive and snorkeling areas, and many local operators have set up shop here. Sailboat snorkeling cruises, color-filled open water dives, and PADI certification courses are given daily, and serious divers will be pleased by the Pacific Coast offerings. Tropical favorites like puffer fish, eels, stingrays and dolphins swim these waters, and many people say that Coco Beach is home to the best diving in Costa Rica. Surfing expeditions also depart from Coco Beach daily, mostly headed for Witch's Rock to the north. The iconic landmark, made world famous in the movie Endless Summer 2, lies just a few miles north of Coco. With spectacular, consistent waves, the spot is a surfer's favorite. Anglers also flock to Coco's waters, and sport fishing trips can be arranged by your Club Director on board.
San Juan del Sur is a municipality and coastal town on the Pacific Ocean, in the Rivas department in south-west Nicaragua. San Juan del Sur is popular among surfers and is a vacation spot for many Nicaraguan families and foreign tourists. Its population is approximately 18,500, consisting largely of families engaged in fishing and foreigners from the United States, Canada and Europe. While the local economy was, for many years, based on fishing and shipping, it has shifted towards tourism in the last 20 years. In October 2002, to mark the city's 150th anniversary, it was formally designated the "Port of San Juan del Sur" and a "Tourism City of Nicaragua." San Juan del Sur, set aside a crescent-shaped bay, was a popular resting place for gold prospectors headed to California in the 1850s.

Monteverde Trainforest

Monteverde Trainforest is a new attraction near the famous Monteverde Cloud Forest. The main idea behind the creation of the Trainforest is to make the Cloud Forest accessible to all kinds of people, especially very young or very old, people that may find walking inside the jungle difficult or even impossible. To make this possible a small, vintage train and railway were specially designed to make the trip inside the jungle an enjoyable and safe one. Two beautiful trains, each one with three coaches, are replicas at 25% the original size of the trains used in the Western United States during the mid-1800’s. Custom built in a factory in Stratford on Avon, in England, by Severn-Lamb, a company that has over 50 years of experience building vintage trains for the most demanding theme parks around the world. To explore the richness of the cloud forest meant long walks through winding trails, as the cathedrals of green would come before your eyes. Today this option still exist but a new one has emerged to offer the wonders of one of the most complex ecosystems to you on an enjoyable, easy yet adventurous way. In the first part of the journey towards the Cloud Forest, visitors will go through four bridges and a tunnel specially designed for the train, following Costa Rica´s strict construction code. Alongside the railway the view changes as the visitors go inside the forest up to a rustic station and a view out point in the middle of the forest, were visitors can, on a clear day, observe Costa Rica´s most active volcano, the Arenal Volcano. In this area visitors can decide if they want to watch the view walk a half-mile long trail designed for easy access around the station, where during the months of November through May it is possible to see one of Montverde’s most majestic birds, the Resplendent Quetzal. After the visit to the mysteries of the Cloud Forest, the train will take you back to the main station, where a homemade lunch of Costa Rican dishes will be served. After lunch you can browse in the shops and hunt for a line of ecological signature products, made out of environmentally friendly materials. After this amazing land adventure you have a journey back to the port to have another amazing voyage on SeaDream!
