Port Name Description
The Principality of Monaco is an independent sovereign state composed of four quarters Fontvieille (the newest), Monaco-Ville (the oldest), La Condamine, and Monte Carlo. Monte Carlo is widely known for its casino as well as the Monaco Grand Prix. Monte Carlo is one of Europe's leading tourist destinations as it simply has so much to offer. Some of the sights include the Cathédrale Paroisse, Eglise Sainte Dévôte, Jardin Exotique et Grottes de l'Observatoire, Monaco Top Cars Collection, Musée Océanographique and of course the Palace. SeaDream calls to Monte Carlo for embarkation and on certain voyages as a port of call typically docking along the new pier. There are a few occasions where the yacht may anchor offering tender service to the pier downtown or at Fontvieille. Kindly check the Land Adventures tab to see all of the options including transfers and private arrangements.
One of the largest and busiest ports in the Mediterranean, Civitavecchia is the gateway to Rome. Rome's incredible history spans over 2,500 years. Rome has been awarded on of the most-visited cities in the world. Its historic center is listed by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site. Monuments and museums such as the Vatican Museums and the Colosseum are amongst the world's 50 most visited destinations. With its unique size SeaDream yachts are generally the first vessel in line at Civitavecchia. On some days, nine ships of various sizes can be seen in this busy port of call. It has come to our attention that some local taxi drivers at the airport may tell you that you can embark earlier than the scheduled 2:00 PM. Please note that this information is false and we kindly ask you to make your arrangements accordingly in order to avoid arriving at the pier prior to 2:00 PM. We thank you for your understanding. Some limo and transfer companies found on the web may not have the proper permits to enter the inner port area. Please double check with your service provider to see if they can actually take you all the way to the yacht. In some cases you may be dropped off at the port entrance and would need to take a shuttle bus with your luggage. Our Destination Specialists “DDP Incentive” have prepared pre and post voyage options for your consideration. Please check http://www.ddpincentive.it/972/Rome For more information. They are also happy to arrange your transfers, hotels and any personalized adventure for you. Please e-mail Francesca@ddpincentive.it Should you wish to call them directly please try; +39 0654 31288.
Capri may very well be the most popular island on the planet? It is a beautiful Italian island in the Tyrrhenian Sea just off the Sorrentine Peninsula, on the south side of the Bay of Naples. Capri town is the island's main population center. The island has two harbors, Marina Piccola and Marina Grande (the main port of the island). The separate village of Anacapri is located high on the hills to the west. From there visitors can continue up to the highest point Mt. Solero. Besides some simply amazing shopping boutiques, the island has so much to offer including the ever popular Grotta Azzura, Villa Jovis, Giardini di Augusto, Certosa di San Giacomo, Villa San Michele di Axel Munthe and the uniquely shaped Faraglioni rocks. SeaDream has put together most of the sights into one adventure called “Discovering the Island of Love” Kindly check the Land Adventures tab for more information. There’s also some great hikes available on the island, check with the activities team on board for more information.
Sorrento is a small town in Campania just south of Naples in southern Italy. It is an extremely popular tourist destination which can be reached easily from Naples and Pompeii, as it lies at the south-eastern end of the Circumvesuviana rail line. The town overlooks the Bay of Naples and is considered the key place of the Sorrentine Peninsula, it allows many viewpoints including Naples, Vesuvius and the Isle of Capri and Ischia. The most popular attraction from here and the absolute “must do” would be to visit the Unesco Heritage Site of Pompeii. Other Land Adventure options include a “hands on” cooking class at the Villa Ida and by special request, you can take a speed bout around the peninsula to Nerano to dine at the Quattro Passi. SeaDream provides a shuttle service to transfer guests from the marina to Piazza Tasso (Main square), although several also take the more active route – the stairs. There’s loads of sites and shopping opportunities here as well as great restaurants, cafes and pizzerias. Perhaps we even have a surprise activity for you as well?
Positano is one of the most picturesque villages along the Unesco awarded Amalfi Coast (Costiera Amalfitana), in Campania, Italy. The town itself is perched on an enclave on the face of a hill and winds down towards the sea. This incredible setting has been enjoyed by writers, movie stars and millions of tourist each year. John Steinbeck visited in the 50s and stated “Positano bites deep. It is a dream place that isn’t quite real when you are there and becomes beckoningly real after you have gone.” The movie Under the Tuscan Sun and several others have been shot on location here. Besides the incredibly romantic vies, it offers excellent shopping, nice beach, hiking opportunities and a few world recognized and award winning hotels such as Le Sirenuse and Il San Pietro di Positano amongst others. As large coaches cannot navigate down to the pier, only private arrangements are available here. You can book a very nice sedan or van to take you to the neighboring villages or even to Pompeii. As SeaDream anchors just of the pier, you may have the opportunity to access the yachts marina and water toys (conditions and local approval permitting).
Gaeta lies in the middle of "Riviera di Ulisse" on the Italian coast between Rome and Naples in Lazio, Italy. It’s situated on a promontory almost completely surrounded by the sea, there is the "Urban Park of Monte Orlando", dated to 1986. The rest of the town stretches through typical medieval lanes and streets, an impressive castle, Roman monuments, historical churches and seven fabulous beaches. Some say that Gaeta is one of the most beautiful cities in southern Lazio. SeaDream is scheduled to dock in the center of town. Land Adventure options include Monte Cassino and its Abbey as well as Sperlonga and its Archeological museum. For those that want to tee off, Il Volturno golf is an option.
The Costa Concordia tragedy has effected everyone in so many ways! As a result, new restrictions have been imposed especially with regard to protected regions and national parks. The unique Maddalena Strait as well as several areas along the Costa Smeralda are now restricted. Commercial vessels are no longer allowed to anchor in this protected region. Depending on the local conditions and the availability of the port, SeaDream yachts are approved to dock in the Porto Cervo Marina or to anchor at Porto Rotondo.
Bonifacio is one of our favorite arrivals! As we approach the captain generally navigates along the limestone cliffs giving guests a sea view of incredible Bonifacio as well as the famous Aragon steps leading to the water’s edge. Shortly after the pilot will embark and the captain will turn the yacht around and back in this very impressive fjord like marina. This could be one of our highest rated arrivals as the guests always find it both impressive and awe inspiring. Guests will enjoy strolling the marina as well as exploring the upper town. To make it easy, SeaDream has arranged a land adventure that will give you the highlights from both land and sea. Other options include golf at the incredibly scenic Sperone course, Kayaking, a boat adventure to the neighboring island of Lavezzi or a hike or bike ride with the crew and officers.
Calvi located on the northwest coast of Corsica in the Haute-Corse department of France. Some have speculated that Christopher Columbus came from Calvi, which at the time was part of the Genoese Empire. SeaDream has an option to dock in the heart of town or anchor off the marina to offer marina possibilities. As most of the main sites are just a stone throw away, we have arranged a guided walking land adventure. Other options include the popular Villages of Corsica adventure, Golf, mountain biking or relaxing on the beach.

Cannes, once a small fishing village is now one of the best-known cities of the French Riviera, a busy tourist destination and host of the annual Cannes Film Festival. It is a Communes of France in the Alpes-Maritimes department. The city is also famous for its various luxury shops, restaurants, and hotels. During the festival in May, visitors see actors, celebrities, and directors up close and in person on the famous steps of the Palais des Festivals at the end of La Croisette. Some options just out of town include Grasse where you can create your own perfume, historic St. Paul de Vence, and a few incredible golf options. SeaDream typically anchors so we can offer water sports to our valued guests. You may occasionally see the yacht docked alongside when we are chartered from the festival.
This is perhaps one of the most famous beach areas on the Riviera made famous by Bridgett Bardot. SeaDream anchors just off the beach and offers zodiac service (wet landing) to the public drop off area. Most of the famous beach clubs are a short walk. Make certain you remember your euros and credit cards as some of these venues charge hi rates for sunbeds, umbrellas, refreshments and meals. Club 55 and Nikki Beach seem to spark the most interest but there are several others to choose from.
St Tropez located on the French Riviera, quite simply may be the most famous resort town in Europe. It is a playground for the fashion models, athletes, movie stars, entertainers and other extremely wealthy summertime guests. Many say that Bridget Bardot had something to do with the towns popularity what are your thoughts? There’s much to offer in this resort town, shopping, nightlife (Byblos hotel’s Les Caves du Roy nightclub) exceptional beach clubs such as Le Club 55 and Nikki Beach at Pampelonne. Nearby you can explore some of the hill towns and visit the award winning rose wineries. You can also visit neighboring Grimaud and Port Grimaud or just a little further out golf at a few highly rated courses. SeaDream anchors just off the break wall and tenders directly to the pier downtown.
Bonifacio, Corsica

The White City by Train & Boat

This fun, varied and interesting land adventure is an annual favorite among our guests. It is an excellent opportunity to not only get to know your way around for independent explorations later in the day but your knowledgeable and experienced guide will provide you with a historic insight and context to let you appreciate this beautiful town to its fullest. Begin your visit with a mini-tram ride which will take you up to the oldest part of Bonifacio to provide you with a quick overview of this charming town, passing the Bosco quarter with the St. Francis convent and the strange, but fascinating cemetery dedicated to the mariners with wonderful mausoleums displaying a jumble of architectural styles. On clear day you may also enjoy a panoramic view of Corsica's closest neighbor the Italian island, Sardinia. Then pass the church St Dominique, a rare example of Corsican gothic architecture, built in 1270, most probably by the Templars. Following the orientation by mini-tram, continue your visit of Bonifacio on foot through tiny, narrow streets bordered with high granite houses. Pass the church of St. Marie Majeure, with its mixture of Romanesque and Baroque styles dated from 14th century. Continue through the heart of the historical part of town to the Two Emperors street where Napoleon Bonaparte and Charles V spent a few days, the Place des Armes, the Jardins des Vestiges and then to the old market where there is a viewpoint over the 230 ft. cliffs on top of which Bonifacio has been built! Return to the mini-train for the journey from the Citadel back to the port, where a local boat stands ready to show you the grottos at the base of the white cliffs. Catch a glimpse of the clearness of the water and, weather condition permitting, enter the magnificent Grotto Sdragonatu the largest of the three caves, which resembles the shape of Corsica. Inside you discover the beautiful colors of amethyst, indigo and gold, the clear water and the rock walls with stalactites and arches. Continue your visit, passing St Antoine and St Barthelemy Caves, the staircase of the King of Aragon carved in the limestone cliffs. Looking south you may even have the opportunity to see Corsica's closest neighbor the Italian island Sardinia, located about 14 kms/9 miles, off in the distance. After this boat ride of about 45 minutes, return to the pier and your SeaDream yacht.

Onboard the motor boat you will navigate out through the narrow harbor entrance called the Goulet, passed the deep rocky inlets with their clear aquamarine waters and the magical Grotte du Sdragonatu which is entered through a narrow and low passage. The cave with its gloriously colored seabed is a single huge chamber with a hole in the roof shaped like a map of Corsica Further along; reach the Lavezzi Island from which the whole archipelago gets its name and which is formed by a group of small barren uninhabited granite islands located 10km southeast of Bonifacio. Classical Costa Smeralda

Take the opportunity today to explore the Emerald Coast, probably one of the most exclusive and beautiful areas of all of the Sardinian Islands. Your guide will meet you on the pier for a brisk walk from the harbor to the coaches waiting at the upper piazzetta. Enjoy a beautiful drive from Poltu Quatu along the scenic and impressive coastline, passing lovely beaches and posh villages. The first stop is at Baia Sardinia, a new holiday resort near the Emerald Coast. After a short visit your motor coach leaves the coastline behind and heads toward one of the most beautiful areas of northern Sardinia: The hills of San Pantaleo surrounded by the impressive granite rocks of the most various forms. Passing through this small Sardinian village that provides you with a glimpse of the local lifestyle. Costa Smeralda Golf at Pevero Golf Club

Pevero Golf Club: an extraordinary position for an equally extraordinary golf course. Everything is special starting from the design by Robert Trent Jones, who, at the beginning of the Seventies (in 1978, Pevero Golf Club hosted the renowned Italian Open), implemented a very exclusive course scattered with terrible hazards created by nature itself more than by man and with a strong wind often blowing across it. Before, the whole area between Cala di Volpe and Golfo del Pevero was completely covered by the typical Mediterranean bushes, by rocks and natural ponds; it would have been a shame if he had destroyed this beauty. So, he have just removed some areas where the vegetation was too thick. The Pevero is considered one of the most beautiful courses in the world, is second to none thanks to the spectacular foreshortenings taken from the magnificent Costa Smeralda, stretching from Porto Rotondo to Porto Cervo. The view from the club house over the gulf of Pevero and the bay of Cala di Volpe are unforgettable. http://www.golfclubpevero.net/eng/

Gaeta

Monte Cassino & Its Abbey

One hour's drive inland from Gaeta lies the town of Cassino and its famous abbey which was the site of one of the most vicious battles during WWII. After the Italians capitulated in September 1943, German troops constructed the Gustav Line anchored on Cassino which stopped the the allied advance for four months in early 1944. The Abbey of Monte Cassino, on it's hilltop perch at 517 meters above sea level was heavily damaged during the battle but has been restored, mainly with American donations. The Abbey was founded by the order of St. Benedict (San Benedetto) as this Saint dedicated all his life for its construction. His tomb is still today an example of inspiration for the Christianity. The Abbey was meant to isolate the order of St. Benedict from the rest of the world as they had to be totally devoted to their cult and prayers. Most of their time was spent to copy an incredible number of ancient sacred manuscripts by hand. Famous centre of religious, spiritual and artistic life throughout the manifold vicissitudes of its 14 centuries of history, the Abbey was destroyed and rebuilt many times. Destroyed around 581 by the Lombards, it was rebuilt in the VIII century and a period of great splendor began and lasted until 883, when the Saracen hordes devastated it again, even killing the Abbot St. Bertario. In 1349, a violent earthquake razed it to the ground, but only after a few years it was rebuilt again regaining its previous admirable beauty which, unfortunately, was not meant to last forever. The 1944 battle was the most recent destruction of the abbey. As a result of all these destructions and re-buildings the monks of the Abbey wrote the motto "Succisa virescit" (Struck down it comes to new life) in their coat of arms. After the visit of the Abbey, the cloisters, the crypt and the famous church, guests will return to the coaches for their drive back to Gaeta.

Notes Comfortable shoes are recommended for this Land Adventure. Sperlonga and The Archaeological Museum

Sperlonga, perched on it's seaside bluff, has been a favorite place to vacation since Roman times. Emporer Tiberius built his magnificent villa here and the area become popular with other wealthy Romans. The village owes its name to the large natural grotto or spelunca that opens out on this coastline. On of these caves is in fact known as Tiberius' grotto. A national archaeological museum was built nearby along the via Flacca to house the findings from the cave and villa. Before being a favourite holiday resort of the Romans, the area seems to have been inhabited by the Iaconian people, who probably founded the mythical town of Amyclae. not much is known of this mysterious settlement, although the classical authors mention it. The history of medieval Sperlonga is that of a small fishing village often forced to face attacks from the sea, such as the Saracen raids. In order to create a defensive line, four towers were built. Despite the towers, the village was taken by the corsair Khair-ad-din, known as Barbarossa. The land leading to Tiberius' grotto is named Valle dei Corsari, in memory of the event. Your Land Adventure will continue with the visit of the The Archaeological Museum of Sperlonga situated near Tiberius' Grotto, 2 km south of the village of Sperlonga. It houses sculptures and other objects discovered in September 1957 during the building of the new Via Flacca. The marble sculptures refer mostly to Homeric themes, especially to the myths regarding Ulysses. One group portrays the Rape of Pallas from Troy, another, the Blinding of the Cyclops Poliphemus by Ulysses, another still, the attack of Scylla on Ulysses' ship with Ulysses lifting up Achilles' dead body. Therefore, a very "Odyssey in marble" which represents one of the most sensational archaeological discoveries of this century. An inscription on the side of the marble ship bears the names of three famous sculptors: Agesandrus, Atenadorus and Polidorus, authors also of the famous Laocoon in the Vatican Museum. This signature seems to confirm their authorship of these marble groups as well. Other sculptures in the museum are ornamental pieces from the villa, and other furnishings and hand-made articles show that the villa was lived in right up to the late Roman period. After your educational adventure, you will board your coach returning to Gaeta and SeaDream.

Monte Carlo Golf Club

Perched at 900 meters above sea level, just under the fortress peak of Mont Agel (1148 meters), Monte-Carlo Golf Club is in fact located in France rather than in Monte Carlo itself. The relatively steep climb up to the Club from La Turbie, does not deter its rich and famous members from making the journey, especially with a well-laid out course, elegant and comfortable clubhouse and stunning scenery waiting. The views out onto the Mediterranean, along the French and Italian Riviera's and inland to the mighty Alps will brighten up any golf round, no matter how your golf swing is performing. Willie Park Jr's original design has stood the test of time, creating an enjoyable and playable course that includes plenty of elevation changes, rolling fairways and clear to see golfing challenges - awkward blind shots are rare, but inevitably there are one or two. Excellent quality greens are stoutly defended by good bunkering, and the well-groomed fairways usually provide enough room for maneuvering, but do tighten-up on some holes. Within the layout's natural, parkland environment, there are some slopes to climb, but it would be wrong to call this a mountain course. The back-nine arguably contains the best holes, especially as you move into more open terrain at the tumbling par-4 13th. A long and gradual climb back up to the clubhouse starts at the par-4 15th, all the while accompanied by some of the most stunning sea and mountain views you'll enjoy from any golf course.

Sorrento (Pompeii)

Fascinating Pompeii, with a "Whisper"

SeaDream is pleased to advise you that in order to enhance your visit to this incredible site, your local guide will speak to you directly through the use of an audio head set, referred to as a "whisper". It allows you to listen to the wonderful detailed commentary of your excellent guides without straining to hear over other visitors and noises. We hope you will take advantage of this technology and join your fellow SeaDreamers on this unforgettable visit. From the SeaDream quay in Sorrento, travel along the panoramic coastline to the remarkably well preserved ruins of Pompeii. Originally settled by indigenous people before the 8th century BC, and later ruled by Etruscans, Greeks, and Samnites, Pompeii became a thriving commercial center under Roman rule. It was a city full of shops, markets and town houses, with paved streets, wide sidewalks, a stadium, two theaters, temples and baths. Then, shortly after noon on August 24 in 79AD, live cinder and ash from Mount Vesuvius covered the entire city. The community of 30,000 people was effectively embalmed. The material thrown out by the volcano was lighter than lava and enabled the city to be covered, with architectural detail, furnishings, household articles, and even foodstuffs and artwork preserved intact. Walk through the streets rutted by chariot tracks, past the ancient forum, the homes of the wealthy, and the shops of the common man. Caught in the moment of death, view body casts of the eruption's victims seemingly come alive in their struggle for breath, their desire to protect loved ones and their doomed attempts to escape. Those who visit Pompeii cannot help but be amazed and moved by this remarkable ruin and the story it tells of a city captured at the height of its power and the moment of its death.

Just Beyond St. Tropez, The Villages of Grimaud & Port Grimaud

There is more to explore than the small village of St. Tropez and we would like to suggest that you consider this lovely half day outing to discover the region beyond this resort town. Only a few short miles away from Saint Tropez, you can experience the contrast of a modern resort development along with the charm of a weathered hilltop village. First, proceed to Port Grimaud harbor, a village with a most unique charm designed by the famous architect Francois Spoerry. Looking like a Mediterranean fishing village, it is a modern complex of luxury housing with a fully equipped marina. Barges will carry you along the waterways for a very pleasant passage through this lively village, past the pastel colored houses covered with Roman tiles and all linked by canals, alleys, tiny squares, and bridges. You guessed it - The Venice of France! Your next destination takes you on a pleasant countryside drive to Grimaud village, a "perched" village. After a short uphill walk, explore its quaint and rustic appearance as you stroll towards the center of the village along one of the lanes leading to the remarkable monumental fountain. Enjoy a brief exploration through the winding alleyways enlivened by the many local craftsmen. After this visit, return to the summer bustle of the coast in St Tropez with plenty of time to explore this chic village on your own.

Golf de Sainte-Maxime

From its lofty perch, high above the town of Sainte Maxime, this immensely scenic and always testing golf course offers stunning views out across the bay and across to St Tropez. Transforming this hilly and at times difficult terrain into a playable layout was impressively accomplished by the Harradines (Don and Peter), although the accurate shot-maker will certainly fare better here than the wayward big-hitter; from the outset there are several tightish drives to make. The front-nine loop is played down into a valley, where villas flank the course perimeter, but rarely are they in range. Water threatens on only two occasions. At the downhill par-3 7th, an attractive pond dangerously fronts the putting surface. The same pond must be crossed again as you tee-off at the superb short par-4 8th, a hole which then requires an accurate uphill approach shot to a green encircled by small rocky cliffs. The more elevated and fabulously scenic back-nine retains many natural stretches, with wonderful views onto the Mediterranean, and inland to the forested hills and peaks of the Massif des Maures. First timers to the course may think the uniformly circular greens are generally quite flat, but beware, these perfect circles are often wickedly inclined. Between the 10th and 11th holes you'll pass an old cable car that once ferried golfers up to the 11th tee; mandatory buggies now perform that task. Although maintenance could be a tad better in places, Sainte Maxime's spectacular views and challenging layout make this a must play course for visitors to France's incomparable Cote D'Azur.

St. Tropez by Foot

Your guide will await you on the pier to show you around the village of Saint Tropez. The sightseeing discovery starts with a nice walk along the pier, passing by the most famous café “Senequier” arriving to the very tiny bay from where the visitors will enjoy the view. After this first stop, continue to the heart of St Tropez with the square of the Town Hall representing the Republic and the French Revolution from 1789. Then continue to the church of St Tropez named after the martyr “Saint Torpez”. Visit of the church and listen to the explanation of the legend of St Tropez. Stroll through the by-streets and narrow streets, see the small authentic squares where most of them have an elm, which is the symbol of the freedom. After the effort of walking uphill you will reach the top of the village to enjoy breathtaking views. A great panorama overlooking the village of St Tropez with its red roofs and the deep and strong blue of the Mediterranean Sea. St. Tropez is not only a little harbor but also a village where art has the first place. The 20th Century is represented by the most three important movements of painting: the Fauvism with Matisse and Derain, the Pointillism with his precursor Signac and the Nabis with Bonnard and Vuillard. At the end of the guided walking discovery you may choose to casually walk back to the tender pier or remain in the downtown area for some independent investigation.
