||The Suez Canal is an artificial waterway at sea level in Egypt that strategically connects the Mediterranean Sea and the Red Sea. It opened in November 1869 after 10 years of construction work. This technological feat allows ship transport between Europe and eastern Asia without navigation around the African continent. Vessels enter from the north at Port Said and the southern terminus from Port Tawfiq at the city of Suez. Ismailia lies on the west bank approximately 3 km (1.9 mi) from the half-way point. The canal is single lane with passing places in the "Ballah By-Pass" and the Great Bitter Lake. As it is a waterway at sea level, it contains no locks; seawater flows freely through the canal. In general, the canal north of the Bitter Lakes generally flows north in winter and south in summer.|
||Built across a series of seven islands (Colaba, Mazagaon, Old Woman's Island, Wadala, Mahim, Parel, and Matunga-Sion) that now form the city's main districts, Mumbai is the glamour capital of India. The early residents were Koli fishermen and the community was part of the Ashoka Kingdom. An extended land reclamation program eventually linked the archipelago into a peninsula. The region passed through the hands of several Hindi rulers until 1343, when Gujerat Muslims took possession. They ruled for two centuries until Portuguese forces invaded, but only their Mahim Mosque remains. The SeaDream Land Adventure to Elephanta Island departs from the iconic gateway of India. If you are shopping-deprived, join us on a market excursion to explore Mumbai at its colorful best.|
||Athens is the capital as well as the largest city in Greece. It is one of the world's oldest cities, with its recorded history spanning around 3,400 years. The heritage of the classical era is still evident in the city, represented by a number of ancient monuments and works of art, the most famous of all being the Parthenon. Athens is home to two UNESCO World Heritage Sites, the Acropolis of Athens and the medieval Daphni Monastery. SeaDream will embark guests from the port of Piraeus. Should you desire a private arrangement, transfer, or other local service, please see the Land Adventures tab for our destination specialists information.|
||Santorini also known as Thera is a volcanic island located in the southern Aegean Sea, about 200 km (120 mi) southeast from Greece's mainland. Santorini is essentially what remains of an enormous volcanic explosion, destroying the earliest settlements on what was formerly a single island, and leading to the creation of the current geological caldera.|

SeaDream's View: Once the private residence of a wealthy expatriate Greek, the Hotel Grande Bretagne is an architectural landmark and the historic Grande dame of the city. It was recently lavishly restored and converted to a palace hotel. We at SeaDream think it is one of Europe's finest hotels. We absolutely love its convenient location - the best in Athens, and within walking distance from the fashionable Kolonaki Square with exclusive shopping, entertainment, restaurants and cafes. Also within walking distance are important museums and the historic and picturesque old quarter of Plaka with taverns, open-air coffee shops, flea market and souvenir shops. The hotel offers 321 rooms but we recommend at least a deluxe room or one of the only 22 Junior Suites; so book early and ask for one that offers splendid views of the Acropolis, Parliament and National Gardens. We also enjoy the outdoor roof top pool and highly recommend dinner in the GB Roof Garden Restaurant. Why? You'll never forget the view, the delicious food and the mix of local and international guests that fill the restaurant nightly. Reserve early and enjoy. Don't forget to visit their web site for more information and photos. This SeaDream Land Adventure provides our guests in transit with a good panoramic overview of this iconic city. You will depart from the pier towards Marine Drive, Mumbai's seaside promenade, to see its shops, restaurants, bars and throngs of people. At the northern end of Marine Drive, you will find popular Chowpatty Beach. Your next stop is at ISKCON; the amazing temple of the International Society for Krishna Consciousness. The god Krishna often portrayed in blue and playing a flute has a mischievous nature and his peasant background and legendry exploits with the milkmaids have made him of the most popular gods. Krishna devotees believe the material body is subjected to birth, old age, disease and death, whereas the spirit soul is by nature eternal, full of knowledge and bliss. We witness the prayer chanting offered for the welfare of humanity in this stunning temple. We then continue towards the western shores to Malabar Hill, Mumbai's most exclusive neighborhood. Popular since the 18th century due to its forested slopes, fresh sea breezes and panoramic views, Malabar's hillsides are filled with picturesque mansions and bungalows built by merchants and Colonial governors. Today, luxury high-rise apartments also dot the landscape. From here, you will proceed past Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus earlier known as Victoria Terminus, a remarkable railway station highlighted by domes, spires, Corinthian columns and minarets. India's first train departed this station in April 1853; today, half a million commuters use the station each day Our drive then continues to the Gateway of India for a photo stop. This Indo-Saracenic archway was built in 1911 to commemorate the visit of King George V and Queen Mary, and is the city's most famous landmark Our tour concludes with a visit to the world-renowned Taj Mahal Palace & Tower Hotel, a favorite of diplomats, sheiks and Mumbai's jet set. It was recently rated among the ten best hotels in the world. Upon arrival, we can relax with a cold drink before re-boarding our coach for the return drive to the pier and your SeaDream yacht.

If you have been to Santorini before, you have admired the view of the volcanic caldera from high up on the cliffs of the whitewashed villages of Fira or Oia. You may, then, have wondered about the two islands in the center of the caldera. These are the two small uninhabited volcanic islands called Nea ("New") Kameni and Palea ("Old") Kameni. On this land adventure you will have the opportunity of visiting these islands. A local caique will take you from the yacht’s side for a 15-minute boat trip over to Nea Kameni. The sail will take you along the volcanic shores with the peculiar rock formations. The black volcanic rocks contrast wildly with the white pumice, offering impressive views. After disembarking the caique, a 30 minute hike will take you to the crater of the still active volcano. During your walk up on an ascending path you will have the opportunity to observe lava fragments and the volcanic rock formations. Once you have reached the crater you will have time to relax and enjoy the view of Santorini Island and the amazing cliff-walls of the caldera. Descending back to the caique, you leave the volcanic island and sail towards the thermal springs of Palea Kameni. The boat will pass by the green sulphur-stained warm waters with temperature that reach 37 degrees centigrade. From there you will continue your boat trip back to the yacht.
Please note: There is no shade on the volcano and you should wear appropriate sun protection. Good walking shoes are required and you should consider the nature of this active land adventure when booking.

On this land adventure you will have an incredible opportunity to visit one of the most important prehistoric settlements of the Aegean, Akrotiri Archaeological site and the picturesque village of Oia. Could Akrotiri really be the lost city of Atlantis?
One of the reasons Santorini has attracted the world’s attention is the excavation at Akrotiri, which reclaimed a whole prehistoric Minoan city from the volcanic ash. The prehistoric site of Akrotiri is on the south-western tip of the island and was discovered in 1967 by Professor Spyros Marinatos as it was buried by the widespread Theran eruption in the middle of the second millennium BC. The excavations brought into light a remarkably well-preserved site with two and three-story homes decorated with marvelous wall paintings and frescoes, an advanced drainage system and many interesting objects, artworks, potteries and furniture which give a picture of a society which was very well organized and at the peak of prosperity. This was interrupted suddenly by the eruption of the volcano, which buried the entire city. An ambitious modern bio-climatic roof top structure protects this important archaeological settlement where excavation works are still in progress. Your SeaDream Land Adventure continues crossing the entire island and after a 30 minute drive you will reach the northeast part of the island and its most picturesque town, Oia. Once a major fishing harbor it is now the calmest place on the island. Built high up on the ridge of red rocks it offers breathtaking views of the blue Aegean. You leave your coaches for a stroll around the narrow streets with the old beautiful houses and the tiny picturesque shops. Enjoy the breathtaking views of the caldera cliff and wander in the narrow streets for shopping or a cup of coffee during your free time in the village. Returning to Fira town you can either take the cable car down to the port or wander around the narrow streets with the various shops and take a later cable car. For those SeaDream Active guests, you can also walk down the path back to Skala Fira (port). Now that the site has re-opened, we highly recommend you join us on this wonderful yachting land adventure.

Upon arrival to Luxor the guide will accompany you straight to the west bank in Luxor for an unforgettable visit of the Valley of the Kings, or Wadi el-Muluk in Arabic, is a valley in Egypt where tombs were built for the Pharaohs and powerful nobles of the New Kingdom, the Eighteenth through Twentieth Dynasties of Ancient Egypt. The Valley of the Kings also had tombs for the favorite nobles and the wives and children of both the nobles and pharaohs. Around the time of Ramesses I (ca. 1300 BC) the Valley of the Queens was begun, although some wives were still buried with their husbands. Then drive to Hatshepsut temple at El Dier El Bahary to visit. Hatshepsut was the daughter of Thutmosis I, the wife (probable half-sister) and Queen of Thutmosis II and step-mother and co-regent of Thutmosis III. She was Pharaoh, and was pictured as such in her mortuary temple and other monuments. She ruled for twenty-two year. When she died, Thutmosis III supervised her burial in the Valley of the Kings. In the years after her reign, her successors defaced the temple and monuments, selectively removing her name or replacing it with their own. It is not known if Thutmosis III ordered the actual defacement out of anger at her assumption of power. There is some archeological evidence that the defacement took place 20 years after her death, a long time to hold a grudge. Thutmosis III ruled for thirty-three years in his own right. On the way back to the River Nile bank you will stop by the Colossi of Memnon to visit the two huge figures of Amenhotep III were set up in front of his Mortuary temple which most probably was destroyed for unknown reasons. These two colossi are made of sandstone which during ancient times was brought from Gabal El Silselah. Each colossus including the pedestal and the crown is about 21 M in height. The Greeks named them after the Trojan hero Memnon who was killed by Achilles. Experience a short Nile Journey on a special motor boat from the West Bank to the East Bank whereby you will dock by the Sonesta St. George hotel for lunch. After lunch you will start again, your adventure to visit the most famous temple of Karnak & passing by Luxor temple which is very open to be seen from the street. The guide will stop by and give some information about the history & the highlight of the temple. The immense Karnak Temple was started in the 11th Dynasty and expanded through to the 25th Dynasty " a span of 1,300 years. Amazingly, the temple lay buried in the sand for more than 1,000 years before it was excavated in the mid-19th century. Restoration is still being carried out on the site today. Luxor Temple was started to be constructed around 1400 BCE by Pharaoh Amenophis 3, who also depicted on the two colossi of Memnon. Ramses 2 added large parts to the temple more than 100 years later. The fact that the Temple of Luxor only has two major construction periods has contributed to a more coherent style and layout than what was the case with the temple of Amun at Karnak. The Temple of Luxor was dedicated to the Theban Triad, the three gods Amun-Min, Mut and Khonsu (the two latter had their respective temples at Karnak). Mut was Amun-Min's wife, and Khonsu their son. The temples at Karnak and the Temple of Luxor were connected by an impressive avenue flanked with grand sphinxes on both sides. Drive from Luxor to Safaga to embark again on the Sea Dream.
