  • Trapani, Sicily

Trapani is a city on the west coast of Sicily in Italy and was founded by Elymians. SeaDream docks in the center of town and allows incredible access for strolling into town or meeting the motor coach for the scheduled land adventures. • Valletta

Valletta, The Fortress City, is Malta's capital city: a living, working city, the administrative and commercial heart of the Islands. Valletta is named after its founder, the respected Grand Master of the Order of St. John, Jean Parisot de la Valette. The magnificent fortress city grew on the arid rock of Mount Sceberras peninsula, which rises steeply from two deep harbours, Marsamxett and Grand Harbour. Ottoman forces numbering 40,000 laid siege to the island from May to September, 1565, without success. The heavily outnumbered force of 700 knights and around 8000 Maltese regular troops took refuge in the fortified town on the Grand Harbour. Started in 1566, the city of Valletta was completed, with its impressive bastions, forts and cathedral, in the astonishingly short time of 15 years. The city is busy by day, yet retains a timeless atmosphere. The grid of narrow streets boasts some of Europe's finest art works, churches and palaces. Walking around Valletta you'll come across an intriguing historical site around every corner: votive statues, niches, fountains and coats of arms high up on parapets. Narrow side streets are full of tiny quaint shops and cafes, while Valletta's main streets are lined with larger international branded shops for fashion, music, jewellery and much more.

  • Taormina (Etna) Sicily

SeaDream yachts anchor in the bay of Giardini Naxos and offer fantastic views of recently awarded UNESCO Natural Site of Mt. Etna (2013) as well as Taormina perched on the cliffside. For the SeaDream active guests, office led hikes and bike rides could also transport you to Taormina town or continue up to Castelmola which provides amazing views of the surrounding areas. Perhaps the “must do” adventure here would be to ascent Mt. Etna with your fellow SeaDreamers. Kindly check the Land Adventure tab for the specifics. Other options include an incredible and authentic feast at the Godfather Villa. This “SeaDream Excusive” Land Adventure requires a high minimum to operate but it’s worth every penny! As we are anchored and if conditions allow, we will offer water sports both in the morning and in the afternoon. Multo Bene!

Stromboli is one of 8 small islands in the Aeolian group in Tyrrhenian Sea. It’s located just off the north coast of Sicily, containing one of the three active volcanoes in Italy. It has been almost constantly erupting in some manor for the past 200 years. Some refer to this island as the "Lighthouse of the Mediterranean".

  • Amalfi

Amalfi is a picturesque town in the province of Salerno, in the Campania region of Italy. With its incredible views, it is the main town that makes up the very famous and UNESCO awarded Amalfi coast (Costiera Amalfitana). Amalfi sports some impressive medieval architecture including; its cathedral of Sant'Andrea (St. Andrew), the church tower, the convent of the Cappuccini, founded by the Amalfitan Cardinal Pietro Capuano. They richly represent the artistic movement prevailing in Southern Italy. From Amalfi, we have created two exciting land adventures for you. One to Scenic Ravello and the other to Fascinating Pompeii. You may also choose to play from the yacht’s marina (Permission and conditions pending) or go on a very scenic hike with one of the officers.

  • Sorrento (Pompeii)

Sorrento is a small town in Campania just south of Naples in southern Italy. It is an extremely popular tourist destination which can be reached easily from Naples and Pompeii, as it lies at the south-eastern end of the Circumvesuviana rail line. The town overlooks the Bay of Naples and is considered the key place of the Sorrentine Peninsula, it allows many viewpoints including Naples, Vesuvius and the Isle of Capri and Ischia. The most popular attraction from here and the absolute “must do” would be to visit the Unesco Heritage Site of Pompeii. Other Land Adventure options include a “hands on” cooking class at the Villa Ida and by special request, you can take a speed bout around the peninsula to Nerano to dine at the Quattro Passi. SeaDream provides a shuttle service to transfer guests from the marina to Piazza Tasso (Main square), although several also take the more active route – the stairs. This is a great start for the Land Adventure traveling to Montalcino for the tasting of fantastic Brunello in one of the most famous Italian wine regions. Other options include hiking to the few castellos (castles) located on top of the three hills surrounding the port. As well as an adventures bike ride to Porto Santo Stefano or for the really energetic to the convent on top of the mountain. There’s also a great golf course and a fantastic boutique hotel called Il Pelicano where guests can enjoy a nice atmosphere and lunch. As we are anchored guests will also enjoy water sports from the marina platform (Pending local conditions and approvals).

  • Portoferraio, Elba

Portoferraio is a beautiful town in the province of Livorno, Tuscany, on the northern coast of Elba Island. SeaDream generally docks just steps away from the main street Via Garibaldi and offers a guided walk of this very historical town called “Walking the Napoleon Trail”. The first site is the Town Hall, proceeding northeast on Via Napoleone, the Misericordia church, in which a mass is said for Napoleon's soul on May fifth every year. The highest point of town is the Piazza Napoleone, from which there are fine views. To the west rises Forte Falcone (79m/261ft), to the east, above the lighthouse, Forte Stella (48m/158ft), both originally built in 1548 and later completed by Napoleon. On the seaward side of the square is the simple Villa dei Molini. This is believed to be Napoleon's official residence, which contains his library. The island offers so much more than just the main city, there’s some incredible wine and several other towns to explore. To help make the most of your visit to the island, we have created the perfect land adventure for you – “Elba Vistas, Villages & Wine”. If neither sparks your interest, you can borrow one of the mountain bikes to explore the island – the recommended route would be to visit Porto Azzuro.

  • Portoferraio, Elba - Elba Vistas, Villages & Wine

    Description

From Elba’s capital Portoferraio, enjoy a delightful drive to the southern mountainside village of Capoliveri. Being absolutely enchanting, Capoliveri preserves an almost medieval atmosphere in its architecture, somber at the same time as graceful and elegant. It is located in the southern parts of the island, in the heart of Elba's mining area, between the iron mines at Mount Calamita and Mount Ginevro. From Capoliveri's panoramic point you can enjoy a superb view over the gulfs Lacona and di Campo, at the foot of a wild headland covered with bush, agaves and prickly pears. The coasts of Capoliveri are some of the most beautiful on the island, with overhanging cliffs, visited by thousands of seagulls, and small bays with crystal-clear water. Now it is time for a delightful walk through the twisty old streets followed then by some leisure time to shop and browse around the tiny shops and boutiques of the village. Your next destination is the 17th century old country wine-farm "La Chiusa," beautifully nestled in a vineyard estate surrounded by olive trees and overlooking the ocean: as any self-respecting mansion on Elba, it claims to have once housed Napoleon during his exile there " During your visit of the estate's cellar see how the wine is handled and produced " A delicious wine sampling of the vineyard's "passiti" made from Aleatico and Ansonica, classic mainstays of the island will follow in the outside garden facing the sea , complement by assorted light snacks. After enjoying this pleasant interlude, a short walk will bring you back to your waiting transport for your drive back to Portoferraio and your SeaDream yacht. • Portoferraio, Elba - Walking The Napoleon Trail

    Description

Enjoy a historically informative hike through the 'centro' section of Portoferraio, Elba's capital and largest city. Founded in 1584 by Grand Duke Cosimo I, the city was guarded in the Medici days by two massive fortresses, the Forte Falcone to the west and Forte Stella to the east. From the pier, begin your walk through the ancient city gates toward the Forte Falcone. Once inside, there's a spectacular view over Portoferraio and the gulf. Continue along the narrow cobblestone path that leads to the town's upper reaches and your next stop, the Napoleon Residence dei Mulini, where the famous French hero lived in exile for nine months. A visit to the emperor's apartments lets you imagine him reading his favorite books in the library, or contemplating his conquests in the small garden. Resume your stroll to the Forte Stella, so named for its star-shaped design, then wind your way down toward the pier, with a brief visit along the way to the Church of Misericordia. Passing through the Medicean Sea Gate, or Porta a Mare, enjoy the ambience of the fashionable waterfront before returning to the yacht.

  • Porto Ercole - Montalcino & Italy's Celebrated Wines

    Description

We can highly recommend this beautiful day into one of Italy's most celebrated regions. A delightful day trip away from the yacht in Porto Ercole takes you into the renowned Montalcino, which lies south of the Chianti wine region, and allows you to explore two of the area's most charming towns. Begin with a scenic countryside drive, traveling through delightful tiny medieval villages. One of the most famous and recognized wines in Italy is the Brunello, which is grown around the sleepy town of Montalcino, your first destination. Founded in the first decades of the 10th century, the town has kept its urban structure since the Middle Ages, the time of its greatest expansion and brilliance. A walking tour takes you along its narrow, winding and steep streets, its 14th-century fortress and impressive ramparts with spectacular views over the surrounding countryside. See the Palazzo Comunale on the Piazza del Popolo, dating back to the 13th century, and the Duomo San Salvatore. Montalcino's foremost activity is wine producing, as is evident from the number of shops where you can both sample or buy the excellent local wines. Enjoy some free time to browse and have lunch on your own before a visit to a local winery where you will sample the celebrated local wines. And, bring some of your friends; food & wine always tastes better in good company. And leave the driving to us. Continue to the valley to visit Sant' Antimo and admire the impressive, ancient Abbey built by Charlemagne early in the 9th century. Legend says he built it as an expression of thanks to God for sparing him and his troops from a plague that was then raging through Italy. Return to SeaDream in Porto Ercole thereafter.

    Notes

We suggest that you wear comfortable walking shoes for your walk through the two villages and for the wine tasting; it pays to be sure-footed. The scenic journey from Porto Ercole to Montalcino requires approximately 1 hour and 45 minutes; time to rest up for your walks and to learn more about the region from your excellent local guide. A minimum participation is required to operate all Yachting Land Adventures and some have limited capacity. • Amalfi - Fascinating Pompei, with a "Whisper"

    Description

SeaDream is pleased to advise you that in order to enhance your visit to this incredible site, your local guide will speak to you directly through the use of an audio head set, referred to as a "whisper". It allows you to listen to the wonderful detailed commentary of your excellent guides without straining to hear over other visitors and noises. We hope you will take advantage of this technology and join your fellow SeaDreamers on this unforgettable visit. From the SeaDream quay in Amalfi, travel along the panoramic coastline and peninsula roads to the remarkably well preserved ruins of Pompeii. Originally settled by indigenous people before the 8th century BC, and later ruled by Etruscans, Greeks, and Samnites, Pompeii became a thriving commercial center under Roman rule. It was a city full of shops, markets and town houses, with paved streets, wide sidewalks, a stadium, two theaters, temples and baths. Then, shortly after noon on August 24 in 79AD, live cinder and ash from Mount Vesuvius covered the entire city. The community of 30,000 people was effectively embalmed. The material thrown out by the volcano was lighter than lava and enabled the city to be covered, with architectural detail, furnishings, household articles, and even foodstuffs and artwork preserved intact. Walk through the streets rutted by chariot tracks, past the ancient forum, the homes of the wealthy, and the shops of the common man. Caught in the moment of death, view body casts of the eruption's victims seemingly come alive in their struggle for breath; their desire to protect loved ones and their doomed attempts to escape. Those who visit Pompeii cannot help but be amazed and moved by this remarkable ruin and the story it tells of a city captured at the height of its power and the moment of its death.

    Notes

Please wear comfortable walking shoes; you will spend approximately two hours exploring Pompeii. Kindly note that traffic on the coastline is never predictable and traffic congestion may occur, expected travel time to Pompeii is approximately 75-90 minutes. Those who visit Pompeii cannot help but be amazed and moved by this remarkable ruin and the story it tells of a city captured at the height of its power and the moment of its death.

At the entrance of the village there is the "Bar Vitelli", which has a collection of local artisans' tools and photographs taken when Francis Ford Coppola shot some scenes of "The Godfather ". First visit is made to the Cappuccini Church, whose crypt houses the so-called catacombs with 37 mummified bodies in wooden boxes of friars and noble people who lived there in the 18th and 19th centuries. After a short stop at "Bar Vitelli", start the a slow walking tour along the village's main street which climbs on the hill, with several Churches of 15th and 16th centuries (Chiesa Madre, Santa Lucia, San Michele ), ruins of a Norman castle and a magnificent view of the Sicilian coast-line, Strait of Messina, Italian mainland and villages perched on the surroundings hills.- Afterwards you will proceed to Forza d'Agro' (a 30 minutes drive), a charming little village overlooking the Arab-Norman castle of Capo Sant'Alessio and the coastline towards Messina. In 1990, Al Pacino and Sophia Coppola came here when they shot some scenes of the film "The Godfather III". From the main square, a lane leads up to the close Gothic-Catalan portal in front of the Church of S. Agostino (known as "Triade"), with a pleasant 15th c. facade.
