Tall Ships - Join The Crew
Only in a very few places around the world can you have the chance to see such well-preserved sailing ships as you will in Denmark. Some of them are nearly a hundred years old and many of them are docked around the port of Faaborg at the south of the island of Fyn with its wonderfully scenic landscape. From the pier you will board two sailing ships and head out for a sailing trip in the "island dotted" sea outside Faaborg. You can join the crew and help sail the ship "or you can lean back and enjoy" that will be up to you. However our skippers do tend to get rather competitive - so you better not lean back too much if you want to be on the winning side! If weather and conditions permit you will berth at the small Island Bjørnø or the Island Avernakø. The two sailing ships that we will be crewing are: " Mjölner" which was built in 1922 originally to transport goods from the Islands outside Faaborg and Svendborg to the mainland of Fyn. The goods transported back then included coal, wood as well as the ship took passengers....and their bikes! Mjölner takes up to 12 passengers. "Fiddlers Green" - this schooner was built as a fishing boat for the North Sea and was used for that purpose as recently as 1972. "Fiddlers Green" has been around a little after her restoration " she has been to the Caribbean and back! However in 2008 she came back to Denmark and today she serves sailing guests around south of Fyn. "Fiddlers Green" takes up to 20 passengers.
Note: If less than 20 guests participating, only one vessel will sail.
