Medieval Walled Town of Visby
This SeaDream Yachting Land Adventure will give you an opportunity to really get to know this unique and beautiful medieval town. To gain a geographical prospective of the walled city, begin with a drive along the coast up to Hoegklint for a spectacular view of the Baltic Sea and Visby itself. Returning to the town you will visit Almedalen, the site of the Hanseatic trading harbor and "Kruttornet' (The Powder Tower), the oldest remaining structure in Visby, dating from the early 1100's. Prior to passing through the town wall, alight for a stroll through to the lovely Botanical Gardens. Rejoining the motor coach, you follow the fortress wall past, "Jungfrutornet” (Maiden's Tower), part of the remaining two mile long, 13th century city wall, to Dalmansporten. You will then continue with a guided walk down through the narrow, winding, medieval streets visiting the impressive Cathedral of St. Mary's and passing the evocative ruins of one of the medieval churches. From here you can return with the group to the yacht or continue to wander on your own. The yacht is just a short stroll away from the city walls.
