Incredible – Unesco Awarded Delphi
For sheer grandeur of natural beauty combined with ancient ruins, there are few spots to rival UNESCO Listed Delphi. To further enhance your enjoyment of this very special land adventure, we are also transferring, from Athens, the very best guides and vehicles. They are waiting just for you so we hope to see you on your way to the Oracle... In antiquity Delphi was one of the world's most important religious centers. The Sanctuary of Apollo attracted a host of pilgrims who came to consult the Oracle. Even now an aura of mystery surrounds these sites, exposed on a rocky slope. An approximate 40-minute motor coach drive through the region offers a fast overview of the local flora before arriving at Delphi. Your guided visit highlights the ancient Sanctuary of Apollo, where Pythia, the celebrated Oracle dwelt, the Temple of Apollo, the Sacred Way, the amphitheater, the best preserved stadium of Greece, and the Castalia Spring, where in ancient days the pilgrims had to wash before they were allowed to consult the Oracle. In the Delphi Museum, see such treasures as the Omphalos, which marked the center of the world, and the magnificent bronze Charioteer, one of the finest pieces surviving from the 5th century BC. After the museum there will be free time to visit the village of Delphi. A fantastic journey back in time and a huge visual treat await our SeaDream guests.
