Colombo is the Garden City of Asia, where old world charm meets modern life. Colombo, like many capital cities in developing countries, is fast changing its face. Almost overnight, skyscrapers arise from where old buildings once stood. Yet in many parts, the Old World charm is retained, including several British built, colonial buildings. Other places of interest which you will drive by on your overview include the Pettah Bazaar, Hindu and Buddhist temples, residential areas where you find the stately homes of the affluent, the Bandaranayke Memorial International Conference Hall " an outright gift to Sri Lanka from the People's Republic of China, the Old parliament in Fort, the University of Colombo, the Royal College, which is probably one of the largest schools in Asia with 7500 students and the Independence Square. Your SeaDream Land Adventure will include a visit to the Colombo National Museum and the Gangarama Buddhist Temple. A relaxing stop for refreshments will be made at the charming Galle Face Hotel which was built in 1864, before returning to the pier.
Notes: Proper attire is required to visit the sacred sites. Shorts and short skirts are not allowed. Ladies should have their shoulders covered. Shoes and hats should be removed prior to entering the temples. We suggest bringing along a pair of thick socks because the pavement will be hot. A minimum participation is required to operate all Yachting Land Adventures and some have limited capacity.
