The biggest port of Germany, a notorious red-light-district and elegant mansions along the Elbe River – it’s all in Hamburg! Germany’s second largest city has attracted visitors for centuries. You and your fellow guests will get to know this vibrant place and its colorful history that has ever since been linked with the Hanseatic League. Enjoy the unique combination of a vivid port city that is also an architectural and cultural gem. Upon arrival from Kiel Canal locks your expert guide will show you all the different faces of a city that has been founded nearly 1000 years ago. On your way there is much to see: Pass the downtown Alster Lake and the city’s exclusive residential areas, the Jungfernstieg with its luxury shops and shopping malls, the Renaissance-style City Hall and Stock Exchange, modern downtown architecture, parks and gardens, 19th century court buildings and plenty more. Time and traffic permitting, you will have the chance to hop off the bus for photo-stops. Later that day, visit the exterior of the city’s famous landmark “Michel” - St. Michaelis Church. The "Kramer Amtsgasse", a well preserved complex of restored buildings, presenting the living conditions in the early 18th century will be also shown in detail, before settling for a true German lunch. Try the beer! At the end of an exciting day, the coach will take you back to the second lock of the Kiel Canal in Kiel/Holtenau.
