The Cultural Heritage of Hamburg
Hamburg is the richest of all European cities and the patronage of the merchants who ruled the city for so long is best shown in the wealth of collected art to be found here. After disembarking your SeaDream yacht at the lock and a scenic transfer through the countryside of Northern Germany you will arrive at the Kunsthalle, one of the focal points of Northern European art. Beside works of universally known artists such as Rembrandt, Munch and Manet, the three buildings of this gallery host a massive collection of “local” painters. Try to catch the German soul in paintings by Caspar David Friedrich and Max Liebermann or marvel at the fine lines of Horst Janssen. Of course there is more to see in Hamburg. During your day here we want to show you as much as possible. See the river Elbe and the enormous port, the notorious red-light-district, the impressive City Hall, mansions, lakes and parks. At the Krameramtsgasse you can witness the living circumstances of the 18th century and the outside of St. Michael’s Church tells you about the ups and downs of this old city. Settle down for a true German lunch and indulge the local beer (one of the finest!) before leaving Hamburg heading back to SeaDream.
