  • At Sea

  • Gibraltar

Gibraltar is a British Overseas Territory located at the entrance of the Mediterranean on the southern end of the Iberian Peninsula. Most visitors arriving by sea are impressed by the rock’s huge visual impact. Only covering an area of 2.3 square miles (6.0 sq. km.) there’s several sites that need to be seen. Some of the “can’t miss” options include the Great Siege Tunnels, St. Michael’s Cave, The Moorish Castle, The Lighthouse at Europa Point and shopping – yes shopping. SeaDream docks at the passenger terminal and has the coaches for the land adventures just outside. It is an easy walk downtown to the duty free area. Bikes are available should you want to bike up the rock.

  • Puerto Banus

Puerto Banus is a very upscale marina to the west of Marbella, Spain on the Costa del Sol. It was built in 1970 by Jose Banus, a local property developer, as a luxury marina and shopping complex for the jet-set. The focal point of Puerto Banus is the marina. It is also scene to many exotic cars that are owned by international celebrities and wealthy owners that also own large mega yachts. Our local agent tells us that SeaDream is the only commercial yacht that has docked in Banus. Several club members arrange a gathering with the local Ferrari Club and line up 20 or so Italian iconic automobiles along the pier. Just sit back and watch the scenery – awesome!

  • Malaga

Malaga, together with adjacent towns and municipalities such as Rincon de la Victoria, Torremolinos, Benalmadena, Fuengirola, Alhaurin de la Torre, Mijas and Marbella, forms the Malaga metropolitan area. The important cultural infrastructure and the rich artistic heritage have culminated in the nomination of Malaga as a candidate for the 2016 European Capital of Culture. The internationally acclaimed painter and sculptor Pablo Picasso and actor Antonio Banderas were both born in Malaga. SeaDream calls to Malaga both as a embarkation point as well as a typical port of call. Kindly check on the land adventures tab to see all of the activities and options. Should you need embarkation information, it’s also available there.

  • Cartagena

Cartagena was founded in the 3rd century BC and has been a major naval station. It is located in the Region of Murcia, southeastern Spain. Thanks to its strategic position on the Mediterranean, Cartagena has been inhabited by many different cultures which have left their mark on its rich cultural heritage during a glorious and turbulent history. It’s a very pleasant and relaxing city to walk around. SeaDream makes it easy is the yacht docks in the center of town. Guests have an option of a walking discovery adventure as well as resort golf at La Manga. Some guests also enjoy independent usage of the mountain bikes.

  • Ibiza, Balearic Islands

Ibiza town is the largest city on this 3rd largest Balearic Spanish Island. It lies 79 kilometers (49 miles) off the coast of Valencia, in eastern Spain. Ibiza has become famous for its incredible nightlife and the electronic music that originated on the island. This Unesco awarded city has some great land adventure options including resort golf, winetasting, exploring the Dalt Villa and mountain biking to name a few. We try to stay late in the evening so guests can also get a taste of the nightlife.

  • Mahon, Menorca, Balearic Islands

Mahón (also known as Maó) is the capital of the Balearic Island of Menorca. The arrival by sea is really incredible as the Captain enters via a fjord like inlet and then turns that yacht around and docks in the heart of the city. The capital has an interesting mix of old and new architectural styles. SeaDream has arranged 4 separate and very unique yachting land adventures that include Golf, Kayaking, Mountain Biking and “Mahon Musts”.

  • Alghero, Sardinia

Alghero is one of the most attractive coastal resorts on the northwest coast of Italy’s Sardinia island. Alghero combines its role as a tourist city as well as a thriving marina. This enables a year round economy outside of the busy summer months. Some of the attractions include the Alghero Cathedral, The Madonna del Santo Rosario, the Torre del Portal and Neptune’s Grotto. The entrance to the Neptune's caves and grottos, are a remarkable series of deep marine caves located under the rock headland of Capo Caccia, famous for its spectacular cliffs. As SeaDream is scheduled to anchor, we plan to offer water sports from the marina platform (Pending permission and local conditions).

  • Bonifacio, Corsica

Bonifacio is one of our favorite arrivals! As we approach the captain generally navigates along the limestone cliffs giving guests a sea view of incredible Bonifacio as well as the famous Aragon steps leading to the water’s edge. Shortly after the pilot will embark and the captain will turn the yacht around and back in this very impressive fjord like marina. This could be one of our highest rated arrivals as the guests always find it both impressive and awe inspiring. Guests will enjoy strolling the marina as well as exploring the upper town. To make it easy, SeaDream has arranged a land adventure that will give you the highlights from both land and sea. Other options include golf at the incredibly scenic Sperone course, Kayaking, a boat adventure to the neighboring island of Lavezzi or a hike or bike ride with the crew and officers.

  • Porto Vecchio, Corsica

Porto-Vecchio, Corsica is a small port of call in the Corse-du-Sud department of France. The cities popularity increased dramatically since hosting the start of the first stage of the 2013 Tour de France. Just outside of town they have some remarkable beaches. There’s also options for guests to visit Bonifacio as well as the signature golf course Sperone. SeaDream anchors of the harbor and tenders directly to the town center. With its unique size SeaDream yachts are generally the first vessel in line at Civitavecchia. On some days, nine ships of various sizes can be seen in this busy port of call. • Lisbon - Snapshots of Lisbon

    Description

This unique overview of this UNESCO Awarded city is created for disembarking guests. This introduction provides a look at the highlights of Portugal’s charming capital. As you head to the oldest part of the city, your licensed guide will point out some of the major sights that can be enjoyed from the motor coach: The Alfama Quarter: The layout of this ancient quarter will intrigue you with its ambiance, maze of alleyways and narrow, cobbled streets lined by closely packed houses, many of Moorish design. Continue with your drive through the city center to Alto do Parque Belvedere for a photo stop and to enjoy the magnificent view over the city. 25 April Bridge and Christ the King Statue: From the viewpoint depart across the beautiful 25th April Bridge, twin of San Francisco’s Golden Gate, and constructed by the same company. Originally named the Ponte Salazar after the Portuguese dictator Antonio Salazar, it was renamed in 1974 in honor of the date of the Carnation revolution. Once across the span, you will pause for photos at the base of the Monument Chris the King, a 361-foot high statue portraying the sacred heart. It was inspired by the Christ the Redeemer statue overlooking Rio de Janeiro. Jeronimos Monastery: Crossing the bridge once again proceed to this 16th-century architectural masterpiece designed in Gothic Manueline style. The riches brought back by Portuguese explorers paid for this splendid religious monument. (Exterior view of the monastery’s church.) Belém Tower: Next, proceed to Lisbon’s prominent landmark dominating the bank of the Tagus River. From this lavishly decorated tower, Portuguese explorers were given a rousing send-off. (Photo stop) Monument to the Discoveries: Close by stands this monumental sculpture, built to commemorate the 500th anniversary of the death of Prince Henry, the mastermind navigator behind Portugal's voyages of exploration and subsequent fantastic wealth. (Photo stop) Leaving the Belém area, you will be taken back to the pier or to the Airport.

  • Puerto Banus - The White Villages

    Description

This is a pleasant morning trip inland through the white villages of Monda and Ojen to reach the most fertile valley of the region, packed full with lemon orchards, orange and olive plantations. Before you move on to Mijas, we have planned a stop in Alhaurin el Grande, for a visit of the local fruit market. In Mijas, enjoy its aquarelle of gleaming white houses where bright splashes of bougainvillea and geraniums spill over garden walls and windowsills. Stroll through the narrow cobbled streets of this Andalucian village; as you discover what has attracted artists to this mountain town, which offers wonderful panoramic views over the Mediterranean. Sidewalk cafes and shops surround the popular village square. A short walk up the slope brings you to one of the few square-shaped rings in Spain. From the terrace of a small church you'll have a marvelous view of Fuengirola and the coast. A refreshing soft drink will be served at a local cafe during the tour. Enjoy some free time to browse into the local craft and souvenir shops, adorned with colorful local pottery. Before returning to the yacht, pass through Fuengirola and the holiday resorts along the coast. We admit, Mijas is a bit on the "touristy" side but nevertheless we always enjoy returning to soak in the lovely setting.

  • Ibiza, Balearic Islands - Wine Tasting in Unspoiled Ibiza

    Description

Although Ibiza is a relatively small island, it has much more to offer than the, rather frenetic, Ibiza Town. This adventure takes us across the island to the unspoiled north-west area where Ibiza is rural and the area is surrounded by mountains. Here lies the little village of San Mateu which is famous for its wines as this is the largest area of vineyards on the island where the finest wines are produced. From the beginning of civilization, Ibiza has been a place of passage and meeting for different cultures which left their mark in such ways as the cultivation of the vines and the production of pottery. Ibiza's wine making tradition reaches back at least as far as the time of the Phoenicians, who introduced the cultivation of the vines, attracted by the fertility of the land and the island's good climate. Probably, the wine making process has not changed much since then, since it has been passed down from father to son by oral tradition, being maintained almost up to our times. The area of San Mateu Albarca, is where most of the vineyards are concentrated. It has a Mediterranean microclimate, with dry summers and mild temperatures. The most usual variety of grape is Monastrell in red wines and in white wines, Malvasia and Muscatel are the most common. Our tour takes us to the Sa Cova vineyard. There we will be given an explanation of the land, the climate, the ecologic plantation and the cycle of the vines. The visit continues through the Bodega where the blending process which is responsible for the perfection of quality wine is explained ending with the tasting of four different types of wines; with the tasting will be served an aperitif of typical products: local bread, ali-oli, sobrasada & butifarra (typical sausages), and cheese. After the tasting, we return to Ibiza Town through the scenic countryside.

  • Malaga - The Magnificent Alhambra

    Description

Discover the Alhambra - dramatic highlight of historic Granada on this unforgettable land adventure. The city is beautiful in its own right, but nothing in all of Spain compares to the wealth of architectural art to be found in the city's Muslim - Hispano complex - the 14th-century Alhambra. This breathtaking example of Moslem architecture is completely encircled by walls and towers - palaces, military buildings, a fortress and the administrative centers of a bygone era all lie protected within. Explore this remarkable structure on foot and marvel at the detailed mosaics, prism-style cupolas, and stone-cast latticework that speak to a surprising grace and sophistication. The nearby Generalife, surrounded by water gardens, was the residence of Kings in need of refuge, and in direct contrast, the stunning El Vino Gate commissioned by Carlos V is built in the purest Renaissance style of the 16th-century. By special SeaDream arrangement, a typical Spanish tapas meal with wine, bottled water and dessert is provided after your walk at the Ruta del Vileta restaurant at the base of the Sierra Nevada Mountains. The restaurant is a favorite of King Juan Carlos I during the skiing holidays of the Spanish Royal Family.

  • Cartagena - Discover Cartagena – on foot

    Description

Carthaginians, Romans, Byzantines, Moors, Christians... Find out why Cartagena was a crossroads of cultures and one of the most important cities in the ancient world on this walking adventure which will give you an entertaining insight into nearly 3.000 years of history. Your walk starts through the old quarters to behold several modernist town houses built during the most recent period of splendor in this city, between the second half of the 19th century and the first decades of the 20th century. You then plunge back in time to the period of Roman domination of this area from the 3rd century B.C. Here you find many vestiges of the Roman colonization, such as the Roman baths, "Via Augusta" (the main Roman thoroughfare in the Iberian Peninsula), and the magnificent remains of the Roman theatre, discovered by sheer chance just 20 years ago and still undergoing restoration. You then take an elevator up to the highest of the five hills which Cartagena was built on. Located overlooking the sea; this place chosen by the Christians to raise their main castle over the remains of the Moorish "Alcazar". From here you'll enjoy superb views of the whole city, including its immense natural harbor, well protected by the mountains surrounding it. The Bourbon king Carlos III chose this city to become one of the three main naval bases in Spain during the 18th century, along with "El Ferrol" and "Cadiz". Finally you will visit the Civil war Shelter-Museum. These galleries, excavated out of the "Cerro de la Concepcion" served as air-raid shelters and were still to be completed at the end of the Spanish Civil War. They were part of the works carried out to construct shelters with a capacity to hold 6,000 spectators during the considerable bombing that Cartagena was subjected to, as it was the naval base for a great part of the Republican fleet. Afterwards there will be free time to browse in the main street in the center of town, called "Calle Mayor".

  • Gibraltar - Highlights of Gibraltar

    Description

There is an enormous advantage to be gained by exploring, in the company of an experienced and knowledgeable guide, the natural wonders, local flora and fauna, splendid views and military fortification that Gibraltar has to offer. In order to make this visit even more enjoyable, we will provide one guide for no more than 16 guests per each vehicle. Modern technology does all the hard work once the mini coach drops you at the Cable Car Bottom Station; it’s only a short ride, but the panorama opening out before you is sufficiently breathtaking to make you forget you are suspended in midair. Once up, peep over the Rock for a view of the huge catchments area and Catalan Bay, before striding along a wooded path to St. Michael’s Cave to admire what was a source of wonderment even in ancient times. To save time, you will board a mini-coach and travel north to your next stop. Apes spring to mind when one mentions the Rock of Gibraltar and that is your next stop. These tail-less monkeys (macaca sylvanus) are roaming free. Keep your possessions close! You will then move on to Princess Caroline’s Battery and the entrance to the Upper Galleries. This labyrinth of tunnels inside the Rock includes the great Siege Tunnels. They represent arguably the most impressive defensive system devised by man. Excavated during the Great Siege of 1779-83, they allowed the mounting of gun emplacements along the north face of the rock towards enemy positions. En route back to the yacht, your transport will pass the Tower of the Moorish Castle before entering the heart of the duty free shopping area and Main Street, where you may choose between being dropped off (and making your own way back to the yacht later) or returning directly to your SeaDream yacht.

  • Mahon, Menorca, Balearic Islands - Mahon Musts (Monte Toro, Binisues & Fornells)

    Description

Visit the small whitewashed fishing village of Fornells and then to Monte Toro the highest point of the island with panoramic views across Menorca. See how the prosperous families used to live in the country house of Binisues and sample some local pastries and drinks. The island of Menorca offers some of the most beautiful scenery in Spain - a series of lush, fertile and hilly vistas. Board a motor coach for an overview of this lovely island and some of her highlights. Heading out of Mahon, we take the north coast road to the small whitewashed fishing village of Fornells set on a magnificent bay of the same name. An important bay in olden days for ships to shelter from the strong north winds, the bay is now a pleasure ground for water sports which include windsurfing, kayaking and sailing. Fornells is also very well known locally for its fish restaurants and the King of Spain is amongst the many famous people that come here to eat the Menorcan Caldereta - a dish based on local lobster. We can then sit back and enjoy the view as we wind your way up the Monte Toro, Menorca's highest mountain. Looking back down on Fornells bay from the viewing points you can appreciate the size and beauty of the bay and surrounding countryside. The buildings date from the 14th century and in the courtyard you will find a small bronze statue dedicated to the Menorcans who immigrated to Florida in the 18th century and settled in the area around Saint Augustine. The next stop is at the stately Binisues country house situated in the area of Ferreries called "Pla Verd" the "green flatland". It belongs to a prosperous Menorcan family and remains a working farm but also houses a very unique museum. The items in the museum show you how the rich Menorcan families used to live and has a large collection of farm tools, equipment and general household utensils. Along with the antique furniture can also be seen an interesting and amazing natural science exhibition which is well worth a visit. After the visit you will be served some typical Menorcan snacks (tapas) together with wine or Pomada (Menorcan Gin with lemonade) before returning to the Port of Mahon.

  • Mahon, Menorca, Balearic Islands - Biking Menorca

    Description

The sport of mountain bike/cycling is growing in popularity and the island has an extensive network of unpaved paths, paved roads and country lanes which have very little traffic. Many of the paths follow ancient routes across the island, which pass the standing stones and settlements erected during the Bronze Age. Some trails follow unpaved country lanes between the lovely stone walls which form an integral part of the beautiful Menorcan landscape. Cycle routes are clearly signposted and offer access to remote parts of the island which vehicles cannot access. With rolling hills, quiet roads, and many kilometers of unpaved trails, Menorca cycling is one of the best ways to explore the hidden parts of this unspoiled island. New well signposted cycle routes have recently been created along some of the oldest trails on the island, following routes as old as human settlement here. Today these ancient walkways are bordered with dry stone walls beside pretty small fields and pastures which in spring and early summer are covered in wild flowers. Many of the trails are unpaved but with a hybrid or mountain bike, the trails are easily within the abilities of most cyclists. There are more than three thousand kilometers that are practicable with mountain bikes – these unpaved paths offer challenges for all levels of experience and technical expertise but with many short steep climbs and drops they are not for the fainthearted.

    Notes

The route is decided depending on the ability of the participants and will normally be on the north coast around the Nature Park of the S’Albufera des Grau. Depending on number of SeaDreamers and the individuals time needed for preparation this land adventure could be either slightly under or over the published estimated time. Please take water and dress appropriately.
