Capri may very well be the most popular island on the planet? It is a beautiful Italian island in the Tyrrhenian Sea just off the Sorrentine Peninsula, on the south side of the Bay of Naples. Capri town is the island's main population center. The island has two harbors, Marina Piccola and Marina Grande (the main port of the island). The separate village of Anacapri is located high on the hills to the west. From there visitors can continue up to the highest point Mt. Solero. Besides some simply amazing shopping boutiques, the island has so much to offer including the ever popular Grotta Azzura, Villa Jovis, Giardini di Augusto, Certosa di San Giacomo, Villa San Michele di Axel Munthe and the uniquely shaped Faraglioni rocks. SeaDream has put together most of the sights into one adventure called “Discovering the Island of Love” Kindly check the Land Adventures tab for more information. There’s also some great hikes available on the island, check with the activities team on board for more information.
Sorrento is a small town in Campania just south of Naples in southern Italy. It is an extremely popular tourist destination which can be reached easily from Naples and Pompeii, as it lies at the south-eastern end of the Circumvesuviana rail line. The town overlooks the Bay of Naples and is considered the key place of the Sorrentine Peninsula, it allows many viewpoints including Naples, Vesuvius and the Isle of Capri and Ischia. The most popular attraction from here and the absolute “must do” would be to visit the Unesco Heritage Site of Pompeii. Other Land Adventure options include a “hands on” cooking class at the Villa Ida and by special request, you can take a speed bout around the peninsula to Nerano to dine at the Quattro Passi. SeaDream provides a shuttle service to transfer guests from the marina to Piazza Tasso (Main square), although several also take the more active route – the stairs. There’s loads of sites and shopping opportunities here as well as great restaurants, cafes and pizzerias. Perhaps we even have a surprise activity for you as well?

SeaDream yachts anchor in the bay of Giardini Naxos and offer fantastic views of recently awarded UNESCO Natural Site of Mt. Etna (2013) as well as Taormina perched on the cliffside. Shuttle bus service has been arranged to transport guests from Giardini Naxos to the entrance gate of Taormina town. For the SeaDream active guests, office led hikes and bike rides could also transport you to Taormina town or continue up to Castelmola which provides amazing views of the surrounding areas. Perhaps the “must do” adventure here would be to ascent Mt. Etna with your fellow SeaDreamers. Kindly check the Land Adventure tab for the specifics. Other options include an incredible and authentic feast at the Godfather Villa. This “SeaDream Excusive” Land Adventure requires a high minimum to operate but it’s worth every penny! As we are anchored and if conditions allow, we will offer water sports both in the morning and in the afternoon. Multo Bene!
Fiscardo, is a village located about 54 km north of Argostoli and a district of the city of Erisos. The coast around Fiskardo is mainly rocky with numerous pebble-beached coves. There are numerous viewpoints in the area around the village that offer panoramic views of the Ionian Sea including Daskalio island, Ithaca, northwestern Aetolia-Acarnania and the island of Lefkada.
Itea is a small town situated on the north coast of the Gulf of Corinth, 2 km west of Kirra, 8 km southwest of Delphi. The town has a nice beach along with some shops, cafes and restaurants. It allows the closest access to the incredible sight of Delphi which is within the top three archeological attractions in Greece and in 1987 was inscribed as a UNESCO Heritage Site. It is believed the Zeus wanted to find the center of the Earth so he sent two eagles flying from the eastern and western extremities and where they met was Delphi – becoming the “navel/center of the earth”. SeaDream has arranged the very best guides and vehicles from Athens to further enhance this incredible visit. Your guided visit highlights the ancient Sanctuary of Apollo, where Pythia, the celebrated Oracle dwelt, the Temple of Apollo, the Sacred Way, the amphitheater, the best preserved stadium of Greece, and the Castalia Spring, where in ancient days the pilgrims had to wash before they were allowed to consult the Oracle. In the Delphi Museum, see such treasures as the Omphalos, which marked the center of the world, and the magnificent bronze Charioteer, one of the finest pieces surviving from the 5th century BC. After the museum there will be free time to visit the village of Delphi. SeaDream has the option of docking along the small pier in Itea or anchoring off to provide water sports options. This is dependent on availability as well as the amount of guests visiting the archeological site.
So narrow! So dramatic! You'll understand why SeaDream says "expect the unexpected" as your yacht transits the Corinth Canal. The canal was first completed in the 1893, despite previous attempts from ancient times; the first plans being from 602BC. The Roman emporer Nero actually started construction in 67AD, making the first cut himself with a golden pick. The canal we transit is 6.3 kilometres (3.9 mi) in length. Before the canal, ships sailing between the Aegean and the Adriatic had had to circumnavigate the Peloponnese Peninsula adding about 185 nautical miles to their voyage.
There is one main town on Hydra, known simply as "Hydra port". It consists of a crescent-shaped harbor, around which is centered a strand of restaurants, shops, markets, and galleries that cater to tourists and locals (Hydriots). Steep stone streets lead up and outwards from the harbor area. The charm of Hydra town certainly lies in her rich history, beautiful port and waterfront unspoiled by motorized vehicles. The island offers a rugged charm and some spectacular scenes, and makes the perfect place for some self-exploration.
Athens is the capital as well as the largest city in Greece. It is one of the world's oldest cities, with its recorded history spanning around 3,400 years. The heritage of the classical era is still evident in the city, represented by a number of ancient monuments and works of art, the most famous of all being the Parthenon. Athens is home to two UNESCO World Heritage Sites, the Acropolis of Athens and the medieval Daphni Monastery. SeaDream will embark guests from the port of Piraeus. Hotels and Pre and Post Options

SeaDream's View: Once the private residence of a wealthy expatriate Greek, the Hotel Grande Bretagne is an architectural landmark and the historic Grande dame of the city. It was recently lavishly restored and converted to a palace hotel. We at SeaDream think it is one of Europe's finest hotels. We absolutely love its convenient location - the best in Athens, and within walking distance from the fashionable Kolonaki Square with exclusive shopping, entertainment, restaurants and cafes. Also within walking distance are important museums and the historic and picturesque old quarter of Plaka with taverns, open-air coffee shops, flea market and souvenir shops. The hotel offers 321 rooms but we recommend at least a deluxe room or one of the only 22 Junior Suites; so book early and ask for one that offers splendid views of the Acropolis, Parliament and National Gardens. We also enjoy the outdoor roof top pool and highly recommend dinner in the GB Roof Garden Restaurant. Why? You'll never forget the view, the delicious food and the mix of local and international guests that fill the restaurant nightly. Reserve early and enjoy. Don't forget to visit their web site for more information and photos. Acropolis Museum & Plaka to Airport

** This Land Adventure is specifically tailored for disembarking guests. Guests that are in transit are suggested to contact the team on board for other options. **

Visitors to UNESCO awarded Athens will delight in this opportunity to explore the heart of ancient Athens. Depart from the pier in your air-conditioned transportation and after a 30 minute drive you arrive at the new award winning Acropolis Museum. The museum was built in order to house every artifact found on the rock and on its feet, covering a large period of time, from the Greek Bronze Age to Roman and Byzantine Greece. The museum opened its doors to public very recently in June 21, 2009. Nearly 4,000 objects statues including the Porch of the Caryatids that welcome visitors are exhibited over an area of 14,000 square meters. The collection of the New Acropolis Museum consists principally of sculptures, many of which originally decorated the monuments of the Acropolis. These works were created to be viewed in daylight, illuminated by subtle changes in light throughout the day. Extensive use of glass in the building’s design allows the integration of natural light into the galleries, thus ensuring similar exhibition conditions. Ambient natural light floods the top-floor Parthenon Gallery and is filtered through the gallery’s glass-floored atrium into the floors below. After the visit of the Museum you will have some free time to wander around the picturesque streets of Plaka, the old preserved district of Athens with numerous art & craft shops, restaurants and cafes. After your wanderings at the old district of Athens you will board your coach for your drive to the airport.

Corinth Canal (Transit)

Transiting The Corinth Canal

So narrow! So dramatic! You'll understand why SeaDream says "expect the unexpected" as your yacht transits the Corinth Canal. The Corinth Canal was built in the late nineteenth century and created a new sea route by linking the Corinthian and Saronic Gulfs. Until that time, ships sailing between the Aegean and the Adriatic had had to circumnavigate the Peloponnese Peninsula adding about 185 nautical miles to their voyage. However, in antiquity the Greeks had devised a way of solving the problem of communications between the two seas. In the late seventh or early sixth century BC, the tyrants of Corinth constructed a paved road called the Diolkos, which led from Schinous on the Saronic Gulf to Poseidonia on the Gulf of Corinth. The Dioikos was 3- 3.5 m. wide, and it was paved with blocks of limestone set in a deep layer of sand and gravel. Along this ran the U¯lkos, U¡ wheeled vehicle on which ships were borne overland from one side of the Isthmus to the other. Sections of the Diolkos can still be seen today; the deep parallel ruts in the road, 1.50 m. apart, are the marks left by the wheels of the olkos. The ancient Greeks had of course, considered the possibility of digging a canal through the Isthmus. The first to look into the matter was Periander, tyrant of Corinth, who drew up a plan for a canal in 602 BC. Subsequent planners included Demetrius Poliorcetes, Julius Caesar and Caligula. These plans were later adopted by Nero, who in 67 AD announced to the spectators at the Isthmian Games that he was going to join the two seas by digging a canal through the Isthmus; indeed, he went so far as to cut the first turf himself, with a golden pick, and to carry the first basket of earth on his back. But his plans came to nothing, as did those of Herodes Atticus, the Byzantines and the Venetians in later times. The canal we see today was built in 1882 -1893 by Greek and French engineers using the most advanced machinery of the day. General supervision of the enormous undertaking was in the hands of General Stepan U”U»pp, aide-de-camp to the King of Italy. The project was completed by the Greek Corinth Canal Company.

Notes The canal is 6,343 m. in length. It has a width of 24.60 m. at surface level and 21.30 m. at the seabed, and in some places its sides are 79 m. high. The canal is crossed by road and railway bridges, while communications between Central Greece and the Peloponnese are also served by two ferries in the form of submersible bridges, one at either end (Poseidonia and Isthmia).

Fiskardo, Kefalonia

Assos Peninsula & Melissani Lake

Admit it, you've probably seen Penelope Cruz and Nicolas Cage in the movie "Captain Corelli's Mandolin" which was filmed here on location. Now it is your turn with your fellow SeaDreamers to discover the charm, villages, unique sites and spectacular mountain scenery of this Ionian island. Departing the charming port of Fiskardo you will take the main road and head south passing by incredible Myrtos Bay where you shall take photos of the most beautiful and unique beach in Greece. The view of this little paradise from above is simply breathtaking and simply can’t be missed! From there, you will continue through some of the lushest countryside in Greece before arriving at the village of Assos. This lovely village of whitewashed and pastel houses stands on the neck of a small peninsula, giving the impression of being an island of its own. A unique serenity permeates this cosmopolitan village; from among its streets you will view the remains of a fine Venetian castle. Continuing overland, after passing the seaside town of Agia Efimia you reach the small village of Karavomylos where the mysterious, 40,000-year-old, under-ground lake of Melisssani is located. After an earthquake, the ceiling of the cave fell in, creating what may be one of the most impressive sights you have ever seen. Boats will wait for you at the shore to take you around the blue-green waters of the lake and the boatmen will amuse you as they will compare, in English, the stalactites to various animals in a humorous way. Before you return to the pier, you shall have the chance to pass by the beautiful town of Simi where the above referenced movie was filmed.

Notes Comfortable walking shoes are recommended. A minimum participation is required to operate all Yachting Land Adventures and some have limited capacity. Hydra

Hydra Exploration

The charm of Hydra town certainly lies in her rich history, beautiful port and waterfront unspoiled by motorized vehicles, but the island itself offers a rugged charm and some spectacular scenes. Your adventure begins as you mount a donkey to explore the island views. As your sure-footed steed carries you along the narrow winding streets, pause to look at the architecture of the ship owners’ homes that line your path. Your first stop will be the Koundouriotis Mansion, one of the finest examples of the traditional 18th and 19th century architecture of Hydra. Built in 1780 by the ship owner Lazaros Koundouriotis, it now houses various items from the National Historical Museum of Athens, such as traditional costumes, jewelry, fine embroideries, pottery and wood-carvings. Continue on your ride to reach at a high vantage point the Monastery of St. Constantine and enjoy the breathtaking views of the entire harbor area. Inside the Monastery, an interesting collection of frescoes awaits. Leave your donkeys and walk down the narrow streets while stopping to admire the picturesque little alleys and the impressive Hydra mansions, offering great photographic opportunities. Upon your return to the port, visit the Church of the Dormitian, which houses splendid icons, chandeliers and other offerings from the wealthy seafarers of the island. It is even said one of the chandeliers was stolen from Louis XIV and given to the church. After your exploration, you will have ample time to shop, have lunch on the waterfront or return to the yacht for water sports.

The Unesco Site of St Lucas Monastery & Arachova Village

SeaDream has arranged an excellent alternative for those guests who may have already been to see the oracle at Delphi. St Loukas, is a historic walled Monastery and has been awarded Unesco's World Heritage listing. You and your fellow guests will enjoy a wonderful walk around the picturesque streets of Arahova traditional village. From your SeaDream Yacht board your deluxe a/c motor coach at Itea port and after passing by Delphi & Arachova villages, you will arrive at the St Lucas monastery. This incredible site is an historic walled monastery and one of the most important monuments of Middle Byzantine architecture and art. It was founded in the early 10th century by the hermit St. Lucas, whose relics are kept in the monastery to this day. The main shrine of the monastery is the tomb of St. Lucas, originally situated in the vault, but later placed at the juncture of the two churches, the church of Theotokos and the Catholic Church which is the oldest in the complex tentatively dated to 1011-1012. Following your visit to the monastery you proceed to Arachova. Arachova is a traditional mountain village of 3,000 inhabitants with its quaint houses built up on the north slopes of Mount Parnassos and at an altitude from 2,700 to 3,600 feet. In 2000 B.C. Homer mentioned in the Iliad two famous generals who took part in the Trojan War Epistrophos and Schedias from the old towns of Anemoria and Kiparissos. These old towns were situated around where Arachova stands today. Later, in about 334 B.C. Philip the 2nd king of Macedonia destroyed both towns and their populations were dispersed over the hills until over the years one new town, Arachova, was built. Today the 'jewel' of Parnassos Arachova remains vital because it keeps its' traditions alive and the residents remain simple and hospitable. From the first moment you will feel a different wind blowing up here, and understand why the locals work so hard to upkeep the areas' natural beauty! Browse through its narrows streets with the numerous souvenir and local products shops before your return to the yacht.

Notes The Monastery is not wheelchair accessible and the coaches do not have a wheelchair ramp. Appropriate dressing is required inside the Monastery. It allows you to listen to the wonderful detailed commentary of your excellent guides without straining to hear over other visitors and noises. We hope you will take advantage of this technology and join your fellow SeaDreamers on this unforgettable visit. From the SeaDream quay in Sorrento, travel along the panoramic coastline to the remarkably well preserved ruins of Pompeii. Originally settled by indigenous people before the 8th century BC, and later ruled by Etruscans, Greeks, and Samnites, Pompeii became a thriving commercial center under Roman rule. It was a city full of shops, markets and town houses, with paved streets, wide sidewalks, a stadium, two theaters, temples and baths. Then, shortly after noon on August 24 in 79AD, live cinder and ash from Mount Vesuvius covered the entire city. The community of 30,000 people was effectively embalmed. The material thrown out by the volcano was lighter than lava and enabled the city to be covered, with architectural detail, furnishings, household articles, and even foodstuffs and artwork preserved intact. Walk through the streets rutted by chariot tracks, past the ancient forum, the homes of the wealthy, and the shops of the common man. Caught in the moment of death, view body casts of the eruption's victims seemingly come alive in their struggle for breath, their desire to protect loved ones and their doomed attempts to escape. Those who visit Pompeii cannot help but be amazed and moved by this remarkable ruin and the story it tells of a city captured at the height of its power and the moment of its death.

At the entrance of the village there is the "Bar Vitelli", which has a collection of local artisans' tools and photographs taken when Francis Ford Coppola shot some scenes of "The Godfather ". First visit is made to the Cappuccini Church, whose crypt houses the so-called catacombs with 37 mummified bodies in wooden boxes of friars and noble people who lived there in the 18th and 19th centuries. After a short stop at "Bar Vitelli", start the a slow walking tour along the village's main street which climbs on the hill, with several Churches of 15th and 16th centuries (Chiesa Madre, Santa Lucia, San Michele ), ruins of a Norman castle and a magnificent view of the Sicilian coast-line, Strait of Messina, Italian mainland and villages perched on the surroundings hills.- Afterwards you will proceed to Forza d'Agro' ( at 30 minutes drive), a charming little village overlooking the Arab-Norman castle of Capo Sant'Alessio and the coastline towards Messina. In 1990, Al Pacino and Sophia Coppola came here when they shot some scenes of the film "The Godfather III". From the main square a lane leads up to the close Gothic-Catalan portal in front of the Church of S. Agostino (known as "Triade"), with a pleasant 15th c. facade.
