Ports

  • Venice

Venice has been known as the "Queen of the Adriatic", "City of Water", "City of Masks", "City of Bridges", "The Floating City", and "City of Canals". Luigi Barzini, writing in The New York Times, described it as "undoubtedly the most beautiful city built by man". Venice has also been described by the Times Online as being one of Europe's most romantic cities. Founded in the 5th century, the city stretches across 118 small islands in the marshy Venetian Lagoon along the Adriatic. In 1987 Venice and its Lagoon was inscribed as an UNESCO Heritage site. SeaDream typically docks at the San Basilio pier after navigating by the famous St. Mark’s Square down the grand canal. With its yacht stature, SeaDream vessels are amongst the very few commercial vessels that can navigate this famous waterway. SeaDream does offer Land Adventures when overnighting. You can also contact our destination specialists should you need a private arrangement, transfer or hotel recommendation.

  • Losinj

Lošinj sometimes called Mali Losinj is a Croatian island in the northern Adriatic Sea. At one time with 11 shipyards, it housed the largest and most developed merchant marine fleet in the Adriatic. Today it is much quieter with visitors enjoying the small town and the beaches together with the 9000 inhabitants.

  • Rab

The island of Rab, located just off the northern Croatian coast in the Adriatic Sea, is rich in cultural heritage and cultural-historical monuments. The town, encircled by 12-century medieval walls, offers beautiful views of the harbor, a plethora of churches and four campaniles that are still the town’s most conspicuous landmarks. Visit the Church of Justina with its museum of sacral art, the Church of St. John the Baptist, the Prince’s Palace or the sculptures of Draga. The island is very popular with tourists and families for its beautiful nature, beaches, heritage and many cultural events.

  • Split

Split is one of the oldest cities in the area and the second largest city behind Dubrovnik in Croatia. The Diocletian’s Palace is not only listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site but is also considered to be one of the world’s most impressive Roman monuments. This city is believed to be over 1,700 years old, while archaeological research relates the settling to the ancient Greek colony of Aspalathos (6th century BC) establishes the city as being several hundred years older. SeaDream offers three unique land adventure opportunities; Rafting on the Cetina River, the Split Archipelago by speedboat and naturally the Historic Split overview that included the Diocletian Palace as well as the Mestrovic Gallery.

  • Hvar

Hvar is a Croatian island in the Adriatic Sea. The island of Hvar is somewhat unusual as it is blessed with a large fertile coastal plain, and fresh water springs. Its hillsides are covered in pine forests, with vineyards, olive groves, fruit orchards and lavender fields in the agricultural areas. The climate is characterized by mild winters, and warm summers with many hours of sunshine. Guests have an option to kayak down the coastline on one of our land adventures or take an independent hike up to the fortress to have some incredible views of the picturesque harbor. You also have an option to bike across the island to Starigrad and meet up with the other guests on the land adventure called “The best of Both Worlds”.

  • Korcula

Korčula may be the actual birth place of Marco Polo! This is an island in the Adriatic Sea, in Southern Dalmatia and is considered by our guests as one of their favorites. One activity offered sells out every time so book early the Buggy Safari. As SeaDream typically anchors off Korcula expect the water toys to be used from the marina platform. As the island is relatively flat, this is a great biking destination as well.

  • Kotor

Kotor is a coastal town in Montenegro. The old Mediterranean port of Kotor is surrounded by an impressive city wall built by the Republic of Venice and the Venetian influence remains dominant among the architectural influences. In 1979 the Bay of Kotor, City of Kotor and the surrounding territory have been listed in the UNESCO Heritage as a Cultural Site. SeaDream usually navigates close by the small islands of St. George and Our Lady of the Reef. The Bay of Kotor stretches 28 km and is one of the most indented parts of the Adriatic Sea. It is sometimes called the southern-most fjord in Europe (though it is actually a submerged river canyon called a ria). SeaDream typically docks steps away from the town. SeaDream has arranged a few different Yachting Land Adventures. One of them is a walking discovery and the other will show you the heritage and countryside of Montenegro. For the active guests, there’s incredible biking along the coast as well as a hike up to the fortress. On occasion, SeaDream may dock in the bay and tender directly to the town. We regret that watersports are not allowed in this protected area.

  • Dubrovnik

Dubrovnik (Pearl of the Adriatic) is one of the most prominent destinations in the Adriatic Sea. It lies in the region of Dalmatia and was awarded World Unesco Heritage status in 1979. The population is approximately 43,000 and is considered to be among the 10 best medieval walled cities in the world. SeaDream anchors off the walled city as a port of call and tenders directly to the town gate. If you check the land adventures tab you will see that there are many different options to consider in this incredible town. Dubrovnik is also an embarkation point on select voyages. On these occasions the yacht is docked at the cruise terminal.

  • Venice - Romantic Gondola Evening Serenade

    Description

Since Venice began there have always been gondoliers. By the 11th century most were in private service with patrician families. There were about 10,000 gondoliers in Venice in the 16th century, and today there are fewer than 400. Great skill is required to steer a boat through the narrow canals of Venice. Each gondola is 36 feet long, 4 feet wide and weighs 1,100 pounds. A gondolier serves a 10-year apprenticeship under a padrone before getting his own permit. A licensee must be native-born, and, since new licenses are not issued, must wait until a colleague gives up a license before getting his own. Their union offers free courses in foreign languages, art history and the history of Venice, but the gondoliers are not given singing lessons - every Italian seems to have a natural talent for song. Join us for a romantic tour through the canals of Venice. Riding four per gondola, you will traverse the smaller, less trafficked canals, enjoying the soft lights and balconied waterfront homes, and be serenaded as you glide along.

  • Dubrovnik - Traditional Dubrovnik

    Description

This is an opportunity to explore the beautiful natural setting of the green and fertile Konalve valley. Scenic drive through the small and picturesque villages will first take you to the village of Ljuta where you will visit Old Mill called Mlinica Dvori which is still in function today. Here you will be able to see demonstration of flour production using traditional methods where the water power stone mill. There is a system of watermills and stamp mills built on river Ljuta which consisted of eight watermills for flour, two watermills for oil and three stamp mills. When the Dubrovnik Republic bought Konavle, there were four mills on the upper stream of the river. After 1550, the system called “lower mills” was built and has been preserved until today. The functioning of the mills was based on a canal system, and some of them were driven by three aqueducts. Most of the buildings were on the western bank apart from the Đivanović stamp mill, which was on the eastern bank. The mill system was extremely important for the economy of Konavle and the Republic as a whole. The river source and the upper stream is under protection of the Government as a park of nature, whereas the watermill is protected as a cultural monument. Upon visiting Watermills and Stamp Mills continue your trip toward Gruda Village where Antonia Ruskovic keep tradition of small ancient handcraft of silk production. Silk is one of the oldest textile fibers known to mankind. During the Roman Empire, it was sold for its weight in gold. Here in Konavle Valley, near Dubrovnik, women keep alive the ancient craft of silk production, not for profit but for the sake of tradition. The silk thread produced here is mostly used for embroidering the beautiful national costume of the Konavle region. In the 1990s, during the war in Croatia, the Konavle Valley was occupied by hostile forces and many of its houses were sacked and burned down. Along with the houses, hundreds and hundreds of handmade national costumes were lost. After the war ended, the women of Konavle decided to start from scratch so that they could leave a piece of their beautiful heritage for future generations. They started making the costumes even when they were still refugees. Several volunteer groups were formed to help. This Cruise with Purpose excursion enables you to share in this magnificent cultural endeavor as you produce a silk thread in the age-old, traditional manner. The thread you produce will be used to embroider new costumes. Listen to an explanation of the whole process, from cocoon boiling, to thread reeling, dyeing, plying, reeling, weaving, and embroidering. Enjoy the hospitality of a host in the village and connect with some of this ancient country's profound cultural values as you actively participate in their rebirth and restoration. Upon this very unique experience continue your trip toward Dubrovnik for the guided tour of the Old Town.

  • Split - The Birthplace of Zinfandel

    Description

Start your day with a scenic drive along the Riviera of Seven Castles (locally known as Kastela). Nowadays these are small, typical Mediterranean towns, but their names all bear the title Kastela, meaning it developed from fortresses built along the seaside in 15th century as fortification system. After the scenic drive, you will visit Bedalov family vinery and their vineyards. Through thousands of years of wine making in Kastela the traditional way of growing and producing has been maintained by wine making families. Kastela region is known as one of the most potent wine growing areas in Croatia. In Kastela you can find at least 10 indigenous varietals with Zinfandel (Crljenak Kastelanski) being the most popular one. During 19th century Crljenak has migrated, along with Croatian people to California and became a standard and classic American wine. Zinfandel (also known as Primitivo) is a variety of black-skinned wine grape. The variety is planted in over 10 percent of California vineyards. DNA fingerprinting revealed that it is genetically equivalent to the Croatian grapes Crljenak Kaštelanski. View from the tasting room terrace, at approximately 400 meters altitude is the most spectacular panoramic view of Kastela, Split & the entire Dalmatian Islands. Enjoy the breathtaking view from the vineyards over the whole Riviera while trying new tastes of wine accompanied with some typical, homegrown and homemade snacks before you continue back to your SeaDram yacht.

  • Split - Game of Thrones in Split

    Description

Croatia has gained its popularity in last couple of years, not only because of its beauty, historical architecture and natural wonders, but also because of HBO’s Game of Thrones series that was filmed in several Croatian cities. It seems Croatia offers everything the crew needs, as the number of filming locations in Croatia grow every year. Visit the Split locations appearing in the fourth season of Game of Thrones. All the scenes with Daenarys Targaryen and her Unsullied Army this season were filmed in Dalmatia, precisely Split region. If you were wondering where does all the mountainous terrain and breathtaking views come from, we are going to take you there. You will start with Klis Fortress, which is located just a short drive from Split. Klis is a medieval fortress situated above a village bearing the same name, near the city of Split. From its origin as a small stronghold built by the ancient Illyrian tribe Dalmatae, becoming a royal castle that was the seat of many Croatian kings, to its final development as a large fortress during the Ottoman wars in Europe, Klis Fortress has guarded the frontier, being lost and re-conquered several times throughout its more than two thousand year-long history. Due to its location on a pass that separates the mountains Mosor and Kozjak, the fortress served as a major source of defense in Dalmatia, especially against the Ottoman advance, and has been a key crossroad between the Mediterranean belt and the Balkan rear. In the modern times, this fortress has been a filming location for Danaerys’s stronghold. Upon the visit to Klis fort, embark your coach and continue driving towards Dugopolje region in Split. A visit to Vranjaca cave with guide will give you an insight of the pass ways and filming locations for the 5th season of the popular TV Show. Vranjaca was discovered in 1903, is 65m deep and was created millions of years ago by an underground river. The cave offers cool respite from the summer heat. After a short drive you will arrive to Antonica Mill. This mill is the last mill on Zrnovica River that is still in function, and has been working continuously for last 100 years, although it is presumed that the mill is over 500 years old. Flour is still produced over there. If you want to learn how the people traditionally lived here, this is a great opportunity, as you will be able to see how bread was made in the old days without electricity and modern appliances. That bread will be a part of your lunch served in the wonderful surroundings of the mill. After your tasty lunch, re-board the coach and head back to Split. Next you will re-board the coach and go towards the town of Split, more precisely, you will visit Diocletian’s Cellars, built in 4th century and also one of the filming locations of the fourth season of Game of Thrones. During the time of the emperor, the basement was largely used for storage of foodstuff and wine. Actually, the remnant of a large press, which was used to turn the grapes into wine, is still visible today showcasing that Diocletian surely enjoyed a glass or two of his own Dalmatian wines down here. Now days, it’s a place where Daenerys fought the slave-owner overlords the Mereen and Yunkai with her faithful Unsullied within these very walls, only to return to Westeros as the victorious queen. After the tour your guide will point out how to get back to your SeaDream yacht (which is in nearby vicinity of Diocletian’s Palace), in case you decide to explore the town on your own.

    Notes

Considering that access to Klis fort and the fort itself is very strenuous, the access and walking inside the cave is considering significant amount of walking guests should be aware that this tour is very demanding and only for those in good physical shape. • Rab - Streets of Rab (visit to Rab Crossbowmen Association)

    Description

The small town of Rab was once encircled by medieval walls in the 12th century. Today, parts of the walls can still be seen along the cliffs, and in a few places close to the harbor. The historic town was founded in Roman times along a narrow tongue of land, so when travelers approached from the sea, they could see it proudly atop the head of the bay. Many were impressed by the town’s ancient ramparts towering above the sea and admired the sails of numerous ships in her sheltered harbor as well as the four campaniles, which are still the town’s most conspicuous landmarks. Rab is truly a town of rare charm packed with fine old houses and other interesting buildings. Your guided walking adventure will show you some of the finest features of this lovely town, including a view of the Cathedral, a three-nave basilica dedicated to the 12th century St. Mary. Further in the town, you will visit the Church of Justina with its fine Museum of Sacral Art. Along the walk you will also have the opportunity to see the finest buildings in town, including the Church of St. John the Baptist and ruins of the ancient basilica, the Princes Palace, and the sculptures of Draga and Kaliforni in the town’s main square, just to mention a few. Visit to the Association of Rab Crossbowmen: The Association of the Crossbowmen of the Island of Rab was founded on 15 February 1995 while the Knight Games were restored in the same year, precisely on October 28. Since then, as many as 143 tournaments of knights have been held on the island of Rab, in many Croatian towns and abroad. The association includes 156 members divided into groups such as crossbowmen, trumpeters, buglers, flag bearers, dancers, music players, gunners and squires. The games take place in the town of Rab and in some twin towns such as San Marino and Königsbrunn on Victory Day (May 9), Statehood Day (June 25),St. Christopher’s Day (July 27) and Feast of Assumption (August 15). The costumes of the crossbowmen and trumpeters of Rab were designed by costume designer Dijana Boureek of the Croatian National Theatre of Zagreb based on a scientific study of Dr. Jelka Radauš Ribarić. The crossbows were made by the crossbowmen themselves with the assistance of crossbowmen of San Marino (Balestrieri). They weigh from 18 to 25 kg. The target (cocoon-like) should be hit from a distance of 36.5 m by an arrow weighing 0.15 kg. The flags symbolize the fraternities of Rab, i.e. the counties and town of Rab, whereas the leading flag is the flag of the Republic of Croatia. The trumpets were designed in Italian workshops at special request while the canons were made in Croatian workshops.

  • Rab - Tastes of Rab

    Description

Enjoy a guided walk through the town before you will reach your bus to start a scenic drive to the Vilma bakery. The Vilma Bakery was founded in 1996 by Brna Vilma and family. Back then there was only one employee while today there are ten or more during the peak season. For the last ten years it is hard to find a tourist fair representing Rab or festivities where the famous Cake of Rab is not served. This unique delicacy comes in most cases from Vilma Bakery. The late Božo Sokolić was a legendary baker in Rab and Vilma's teacher after he revealed an old recipe he got from Benedictine Monastery nuns. It is the nuns who helped save the recipe intact and available for generations to come. The cake originated in Venice and was immediately accepted on the island of Rab as it was allegedly rich with almonds back in the time. See the production process and enjoy the cake before the adventure continues to Natura Rab. Natura Rav production is a family-run business. They see their prospects in mobile ecological bee-keeping on the southern part of Rab island in the village of Barbat and on the sea-facing slopes of the mountain Kapela and the nature park Velebit. The farming house, with its space and technology, integrates the process of gathering, enriching and packing honey and other agricultural produce. Enjoy a visit to the factory and taste the Bio products before the adventure continues to the Juresa winery. Jureša family vineyard and winery are located near the famous beach Pudarica on the Island of Rab near Barbat. Is there a better way to get to know the soul of locals than to try the fruits of labor of their hands; premium red wine! ''Plavac Mali'' and ''Merlot'' are the two most famous wine varieties in the vineyard. Jureša family is also famous for its restaurants ''Leut'' which is located by the beach in Barbat. Restaurant ''Leut'' is widely known for the preparation of food with spices and vegetables grown in an organic way (vegetables and fruits are grown in the vineyard). Enjoy in wine tasting before returning back to the old town and the yacht.
