Vigo & Bayona – A Taste of Galicia

Vigo & Bayona – A Taste of Galicia

Experience scenic views of Vigo city and its estuary perched high above from Monte Castro, a watchtower rising 133 meters above the sea level. Be sure to bring your camera for capturing the moment.

From Monte Castro you will travel to Bayona, both a tourist destination and an active fishing port. Located in the south of the Rias Baixas region, Bayona is protected from the open sea by a breathtakingly beautiful bay. Its geographical location offers natural, unsurpassable protection for fishing and leisure sailing vessels alike. Discover on a walking tour the town’s old quarter which was declared an “Area of Historical and Artistic interest” by the Galician Regional Government on March 1, 1993. This date marked the five hundredth anniversary of the arrival of The Pinta, a caravel-type vessel used by Christopher Columbus, which arrived in Bayona with news of the discovery of America.

After your visit and walking tour of Bayona, you will have the opportunity to taste the typical products of Galicia at the Parador de Baiona – Monterreal Palace. Sample the snacks and enjoy the gastronomy of the region before returning to your yacht in Vigo.

Notes: A minimum participation is required to operate all Yachting Land Adventures, and some have limited capacity. Comfortable clothing, walking shoes, hat and sunglasses are recommended.
