Mount Teide National Park

Discover the highest mountain of Spain – Teide Volcano, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and its volcanic crater the National Park Cañadas del Teide.

Depart from the pier toward the university town of Laguna, situated in the Aguere Valley and the first capital of the island. From La Laguna, the route turns along the base of the mountain range, through the Esperanza pine forest and foothills to Cañadas del Teide National Park. Observe the unique landscape of craters, volcanoes and rivers of petrified lava, surrounded by the impressive Teide Volcano. Declared a national park in 1954, the Cañadas del Teide includes an enormous volcanic crater, which has been dormant since 1909 and is over 29 miles in circumference. From the crater, rising 12,300 feet, is Mount Teide, the highest mountain in all Spanish territory. Take in the views of this impressive peak and the surrounding arid landscape in the crater, which is often said to resemble the set of a western movie.
