"Racing Roland" and Granitz Hunting Lodge
Our tour starts with the magnificent white mansions with delicate woodwork in Wilhelminian style which form the charming townscape of Binz " your port of call. We feel the flair of this wonderful town during a short walk. Next we proceed by the "Jagdschloss Espress" tourist tram down winding alleys to Granitz. The hunting lodge is located in the middle of a mystic beech grove and built on the Tempelberg hill. The inner tower (38 m high) was built in 1844 in the the inner courtyard, and was the work of the famous Prussian architect Karl Friedrich Schinkel. Inside the tower a cast-iron spiral staircase with 154 steps winds its way up to the top. The effort to ascend the tower is worth it though ...the view extends as far as Stralsund and to the island of Hiddensee. After this we will be guided into the heart of the "white city" of Putbus. The center of this small city is the Circus, a geometrical round square with magnificent buildings of the classicist area. After this we board the "Rasender Roland" train to steam through the picturesque landscape of Germany´s largest island. We disembark the steam train at Binz and return to the yacht.
