Guided Park Exploration

Guided Park Exploration

Mljet is Croatia's greenest island with its Mediterranean vegetation, clear and clean sea and gentle sandy shoreline and is considered to be one of the most beautiful of the Croatian islands. Mljet National Park is a large area covering the entire of the northwest end of Mljet. Within the park there are two salt water lakes. The lake area is about two miles long and in the large lake there is a small island called Sveta Marija where a Benedictine monastery was erected in the 12th century. Your Land Adventure departs on foot from the small fisherman's harbor of Pomena where your yacht will anchor. Your licensed guides will lead you on a pleasant stroll through the pine and bay tree forests toward "Veliko" and "Malo" lakes. On reaching "Veliko" lake, you will take a short boat trip to visit the small islet where the Benedictine Monastery of St. Mary is located. Part of the Monastery is converted into a restaurant/cafe where refreshments can be purchased. After returning to the shore, there will be time available for swimming in the lake or exploring the shoreline along well-marked paths through the pine forests. The water in the lake is much warmer than the nearby ocean and is pleasant for swimming. Your guides will then escort you back to Pomena harbor.

Notes: Be sure to take a bathing suit and borrow a SeaDream towel from the gangway. We also suggest wearing water shoes. The salt water lakes are wonderful for bathing. A minimum participation is required to operate all Yachting Land Adventures and some have limited capacity. Final departure times will be published onboard.
