The Médoc Vineyards and UNESCO's Bordeaux with lunch
Today SeaDreamers will visit a combination of a Medoc Classified wine Chateau, and the UNESCO awarded city of Bordeaux, with a pre-arranged French Brasserie restaurant lunch.
From the small port you will head South to the Médoc vineyards, driving along the famous ‘Route des Châteaux’. The Médoc wine Chateau road located between the Gironde estuary and the Landes Forest, provides magnificent views of vine-covered gravely rises as far as the eye can see. Médoc vineyards are orderly and well-kept almost to the point of fanaticism, and the region’s famous chateaux produce wines that are nothing short of divine: Moulis, Listrac, St. Julien, St. Estèphe, Pauillac, Margaux (with the celebrated château of the same name). You will visit the cellars of a famous château such as Giscours, Kirwan, Branaire Ducru, Lagrange, Lynch Bages, Prieuré Lichine, Pichon Longueville… You will be explained the techniques of wine making and you will be shown around the cellars before a wine tasting of two recent vintages.
Upon arrival in Bordeaux, you will enjoy a short panoramic city overview of this UNESCO world heritage city listed in 2007: The WWII German submarine base, Place de la Bourse (18th century), the river Front (18th), the Cailhau Gate (15th), the Grand Theatre built by Victor Louis in 1773, one of the most beautiful Opera houses in Europe and a pure work of Art from the 18th Century. The panoramic drive concludes on Allées de Tourny in the very city center. Lunch will be served in a local French Brasserie style restaurant, followed by an optional guided walking discovery in the old district, and some free time in the pedestrian and shopping areas. Your day will conclude with a direct drive back to Le Verdon, Port Medoc and your SeaDream yacht.
